I haven't read it but I will take a walk over to B&N this week.  I am walking during lunch (at least 45 min).  In the morning I use the elliptical machine for a half an hour.  And some toning and I have a punching bag.  I am interested in Zumba, but I don't have any free time. I did put Wii Zumba on my wish list. LOL  Don't know if it will help.

By the way -- I LOVE the before and after picture idea.  Thanks for sharing those!

What are you doing to lose weight?

At the gym (when I get to the gym -- that's the hard part!!), I ride the bike for 20 and do the elliptical machine for 20 to 30 minutes, then do free weights, planks, and ab work depending on how much time I have.  Usually I only have time for weights or abs, not both.  Hoping this will magically change somehow!  The other thing that I am signing up for is called The Dailey Method (you can google it to see if it's in your area) which is like a really intense pilates class.  It is HARD but really helps to improve tone.  A similar program is The Bar Method, but I find that Dailey can modify their exercises in a way that works for my bad knees.  Much to my fiance's dismay, I have also taken up Zumba.  If you haven't tried it, you should!  It is so much fun that an hour passes by without you even noticing that you're sweating!

As for my diet...  I need to do a better job with portions.  But for the last few months I have tried to eliminate anything processed or made with modified anything, in addition to cutting out all red meat and most dairy.  Have you ever read Skinny Bitch?  That book is amazing but not for meat lovers.  If you can get through the politics, it definitely tells you in a factual yet funny way what is making us -- especially Americans -- fat.  It inspired me to try to go completely vegan and mostly raw for a month, but it was HARD.  I loved the way that I looked and felt (I had so much energy!) and so I might try it again before the wedding.  But definitely after the holidays.  :) In the meantime I am going to use that amazing website that you posted!

What are you trying?

Hi ladies,

I need help! What do you use for motivation?

I'm having a lot of trouble there, I have been dieting and have really increased my exercise level for about a month now and yet I have only lost 3 pounds. I'm finding it very difficult to keep at it because I'm just not having the results that I would have expected after all of my hard work. I've lost inches - I can tell, but I'm really frustrated by the number I'm seeing on the scale. I have a goal in mind for my wedding in April, but I don't think I'll reach it now.....or even get close at this rate.

How do I keep motivated to keep dieting when the scale isn't moving? I sometimes feel I might as well eat what I want because it's not like I'll gain any weight if I do anyways. But I know in the back of my mind that it will pay off eventually, but it's just so hard. Especially now that the holidays are coming. Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks:)

Dont rely entirely on the number on the scale, how are your clothes fitting, if you notice your close are getting looser thats a great motivator, me Im on the opposite end of you the scale is going down and down but Im still in the same size jeans!!! I know it can be frustrating but you just have to keep at it, I just keep picturing myself in my dress and how I want to look and also how I want our pictures to look! Are you consuming enough calories, not consuming enough can actually stop your weight loss as well, and maybe even make you gain weight.  You can do it, my wedding is also in April, its possible you just really have to set your mind to it!

I'm a teacher and having a REALLY hard time with my students bringing me sweets for Christmas presents. As we give finals all week long it's so hard to not eat it (all) throughout the day! As if the holiday's themselves aren't hard enough.........Luckily FI and I are both runners are both running a Marathon in January, otherwise my lack of self-control chocolage addiciton would be getting me in trouble!!

Do any of you do free weights? I really want to start focusing on toning up!

Hey everyone, I'm really in a rut here. I completely busted my ankle last week and I'm still hobbling around. BTW, if you're using the Shape up shoes or anything like them, please be very careful, that's how my ankle got really twisted and my whole foot blew up to twice its normal size :( Anyway, any suggestions for some kind of cardio workout? I'm obviously still eating how I eat, but I'm definitely not burning enough. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Swimming and more swimming for you!!! wear an ankle band in the water though. Of course I haven´t seen your ankle but you can just drag it around while you move the rest of your body. That´s what I did when I twisted my ankle a couple yeras ago!. It even helped me recover!

Thanks Nan. I wish I could swim, no more gym membership for me :( But I think I'm going to try to get back to my workout videos and just do whatever I can as long as it doesn't hurt too badly. The videos have some upper body stuff and for the aerobic I'll just do whatever I can to get my heart rate up.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
