Any 2012 Bride/Grooms to be out there??

Recommended Posts

Congrats!! We have the same TA & I am also using Rachel from La Luna!

We are getting married May 3 2012. I sent out my STDs this past April & plan on sending my invites(to everyone) probably in July(since air is now out). I am sending them early because only a few have booked & for my room block I have until Nov to add or remove rooms & I dont want to get screwed. I honestly feel that if people dont know they are coming by November then they are not coming at all. I cant see people deciding to go January & paying everything at once especially since the people I thought would go have not even made an attempt to book & some are now maybes. Plus the resort will need a head count a prior.

Your STDs are so cute!

AmyG- it is stressful when people are so slow to move on this stuff. Its a delicate balance between nudging those who've verbally said they are going and nagging them lol. My dad was telling me that he doesn't even get to choose his vacation weeks at his job until January, so if people have jobs like that then it may be more difficult to pin them down.

I saw someone mention that they were going to send reminder post cards later on. I thought that was a really good idea. I'll have to look my info back over, but I'm pretty sure that everything needs to be paid for 2 months prior to the wedding date as well, but I'm giving everyone till 3 months prior. I dont want them all waiting till THE last second and making me crazy.

So some people are sending out formal invites 4 months prior, and some are sending them out 6 months prior. What's everyone's opinion on this? When is the best time to send out formal invites? Do you try to stay around the hectic Thanksgiving-Christmas period so that your invites don't get shuffled out of site out of mind?

echraide,  I think your dad is right, lol.  I'll give them a few more months before I start the nagging, hehe!

He also brings up a good point about requesting for vacation at his place of employment.  My only issue is that the guests final payment to my travel agent is due Jan. 15, so hopefully people are able to 'lock in' their 2012 vacation weeks sooner.   :- /

I forgot to mention that my parents are throwing us a party (reception) when we return, so I am also including that invitation along with my formal invites to my DW.  I didn't want to send the At-Home-Reception invites too early because then people would tend to forget about it, especially if they're not going to my DW, so that is why I am sending the invotes 4 months prior.  Whenever you decide to send them will be fine!  :-)

Hi fellow 2012 brides :-)

My Fiance and I are hoping to book Nov 2012 for our special day! We are thinking of Gran Bahia Principe but we are open for options its looking the best for us so far.

Just have no idea how to go about the whole thing.  Not sure who to send invites to ( Guests i think will attend or the whole family and friends who would have been invited if the wedding was at home)

So far the TA are only taking bookings until Oct 2012.  Just want to be able to start buying things and making a start but dont want to until i know its all booked.

Hi Mellisay123, I had the same issues. We chose our resort but couldn't book for a bit. What we ended up doing is waiting till we were officially booked so that no changes could possibly made save for a act of god lol

We sent our save the dates and will send our invites to all of our family, whether they will or will not likely come. It really depends on your situation though. If we get surprised and more people come than we were anticipating, then it doesn't really add very much to my bottom line cost other then OOT bags, favors, etc. We thought it would be better to at least make the gesture of acknowledging all of the people we would if we were doing the wedding here. It really depends on your personal situation and how your resort works as far as additional guests should more people than you were anticipating respond.

Happy planning!!

People are going to be hurt no matter what you do Ive found. Some are insulted that we are doing it far away, but for us our family is so spread out that if we did it in one local we would be "favoring" a particular part of the family. We decided to eff it and do a destination wedding.

We're booked for June 30th, 2012 at Aventura Cove Palace in Riviera Maya, Mexico. So far all has been going pretty smooth.

You could always start picking out save the dates, invites, etc. Just not ordering the printing till you get all your plans for day/time/local finalized

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
