Hey Micaela!! I'm in a similar boat as you.. expecting around 100 guests at our wedding next June. We went with DRC (Dreams Riviera Cancun) they say that their capacity is 100 people but that was larger than a lot of the other hotels in the Cancun/Riviera Maya area! I thought destination weddings were supposed to be small too haha though an at home wedding for us would've been close to 500 guests so I guess by doing a destination wedding we are having a smaller wedding! Anyways so far dreams riviera cancun has been great in helping us plan/organize the wedding thus far, id highly recommend them!

Hello all! We are getting married at Aventura Cove Palace on June 30th, 2012. We mailed out our save the dates last month (pic below) and now I'm just trying to figure out the rest!

So far we have 3 rooms booked + myself and the FI. I'm so torn on when to send out the formal invites. How have you all decided to handle the nudges to get people who have verbally said they are going to book? I guess I shouldn't be so concerned since we are still a year out =D

We did book Rachel at La Luna to do our photos though. I feel very good about that, otherwise I'm a total stress-monster lol

echraide,

welcome.gif and Happy Planning.

You will find that we all do things a little differently however; we are all in this together!!  I'm sending out our formal invites in October (6 months) before our wedding. We recently decided to send the invites out to everyone that we sent the STDs to (just in case some NO's turned to YES, and to remind those to book).  Hopefully this will NUDGE them and they will still have enough time to pay.  From there 4-6weeks before the wedding we will send a "pre-travel packet" to only those who booked.  This will include a brochure (if I can stand making this ;-), luggage tags, and a magnet for their fridge as a reminder.  I'm also doing a little packet for each child attending (they can take this on the plan with them).

Congrats echraide!!

I mailed out my Save The Date's approx. 1 year in advance and I think I am going to send out my formal invites 4 months before my wedding and allow 6 weeks for my friends & family to RSVP.  I jut know that I need to give my hotel my final count 2 months before my wedding and my travel agent has set a payment plan deadline for 2 months out as well.

I am also in the same boat as you when it comes to trying to 'nudge' my friends & family that have verbally said they are coming.  My wedding date is March 16, 2012 and NO ONE has officically booked or reserved a room, it's actually starting to concern me.  I just keep telling myself that people have time to book and I have to try not to think about it.

Canadiangirl- I am using a TA, Teresa Stauring.  I saw she was actually recommended on here a few times. She's been a pleasure to work with so far.

AmyG- it is stressful when people are so slow to move on this stuff. Its a delicate balance between nudging those who've verbally said they are going and nagging them lol. My dad was telling me that he doesn't even get to choose his vacation weeks at his job until January, so if people have jobs like that then it may be more difficult to pin them down.

I saw someone mention that they were going to send reminder post cards later on. I thought that was a really good idea. I'll have to look my info back over, but I'm pretty sure that everything needs to be paid for 2 months prior to the wedding date as well, but I'm giving everyone till 3 months prior. I dont want them all waiting till THE last second and making me crazy.

So some people are sending out formal invites 4 months prior, and some are sending them out 6 months prior. What's everyone's opinion on this? When is the best time to send out formal invites? Do you try to stay around the hectic Thanksgiving-Christmas period so that your invites don't get shuffled out of site out of mind?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
