Dreams Cabo Sold Out-April 2010?

Hey girls! The dreams just contacted me and let me know that they are sold out for a couple of days over my wedding weekend. This is a total bummer because we wanted all of our guests to stay in one place and now as people are trying to book they are being told nothing is available. I am getting married on the 24th of April. Any other girls close to that date?? Wondering what you have been told by your WC.... We're looking into other options for them to stay close to us and trying to get my WC to waive the day pass fees so people can still be able to spend time with us. (who wants to come all the way to mexico to have to pay $89 bucks a day on top of their travel expenses to see the bride and groom!?). Hope that I can get something worked out. Its starting to really discourage my planning because everyone is stressing over their travel arrangements!

Where did you look that you are seeing that? When we call the resort they say they have no rooms available and my wedding coordinator told me they are 100% sold out. I looked on Orbitz though and it is still letting me book rooms. Very odd. Everyone is trying to book the larger (900 or 1000 sq ft) room and they said they are booked also we wanted the presidential suite but it was booked too. There is a sister hotel I guess that they may move us all to as a group.

I don't know if my family and friends are just slow or what but none of them even had reservations at all until about 2 weeks ago. It's been so frustrating trying to plan and really having no idea how many people I am planning for. My save the dates went out in October and no one did anything. Now that the invitations are out most people have begun booking, but are running into problems. Im waiting to hear back from my WC to see what they can do. Im sure it wont end up being too big of an issue. Especially if she waives the day passes because I have events going on for three different days at the hotel with the welcome dinner, rehearsal, the wedding, and then a brunch the next day also. So thats the main reason I need the day passes waived.

I know. Our travel agent dropped the ball on that one! She didn't let us know that until about 2 weeks ago and at that point we weren't able to get it done. I'm sure everything will turn out fine, we just hope that our guests don't feel inconvenienced because of it.

Dreams did sell out during my wedding week, luckily Tammy had gotten us the room block. We had some guests my mom who wanted to extend their stay once they got there, as they loved it so much.

but the hotel was sold out and they had to go with their original plans to move somewhere else.

Erika,

Do you think that the hotel seemed overwhelming being sold out with so many people around, or did you find it to be a problem?

Right now, we've paid a $2000 deposit through Sunquest.... but to be honest, I don't know if that's for the room block or not. Best thing to do is contact my TA, but if anyone knows, please post! Thanks! :)

$2000 doesn't seem bad considering how high those room rates can go at Dreams!! I hate my TA. My aunt recommended her and I really should have done more research because everyone has complained about her.

Jess- I acutally was worried about the same thing, but it did not seem crowded AT ALL!!

It was amazing. There was only one restaurant that had a wait at peak hours and it was Hitmatsu. But I think that was because it was closed the night before.

There were plenty of chairs at the pool and beach.

No need to worry!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
