Wedding Planner recommendations please!

Hello! I just booked my ceremony site and could not be more excited! It will be at the Olowalu Plantation House for June 4, 2011. I am now looking for a wedding coordinator. I plan on taking care of certain aspects of the day including beverages, ceremony site, photographer and DJ. I want the coordinator to take care of the caterers, wedding site setup, reception set up, table's and linens, simple centerpieces, lighting and cleanup.

Do any of you have experience with a planner/coordinator who is flexible with the aspects of the day they are responsible for? I want someone who is of course calm the day of the wedding and fun to work with during the planning process. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Hi Sydney! Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

We worked with Deanne of Precious Maui Weddings Maui Weddings Hawaii Wedding Packages Hawaiian Weddings Planner and couldn't have been happier with the services she provides. She only charges you for the services you want her to handle and then her coordination fee (any will charge this, I believe hers was 15% of the services total). The thing I loved most about Deanne is she always responded to any emails or phone calls very quickly (almost always the same day or the following day). It was so easy to talk to her and I just knew that the day was going to go perfectly with her in charge. In fact, I was so stress-free the day of that even my own bridesmaids were convinced I was secretly knotting up inside and just doing a great job of hiding it! I usually am a very worrisome person, so to feel that at ease on such a big day...what a great feeling and I believe it just shows how seriously Deanne takes her work.

Enjoy your wedding!!

I recommend Lori (Scott) Lawrence of Tropical Maui Weddings.

I had a very unfortunate thing happen when I went to Maui for my wedding: my terminally ill mom (she had cancer) broke her arm the day we arrived in Maui, and she was unable to come to the wedding.

I was freaked out, stressed, and sooo upset (crying non-stop for two days!) when this happened and Lori was sooo helpful. She tried to help us coordinate things with my mom so she could come to the wedding (unfortunately, for liability and insurance reasons, the hospital couldn't release her for the wedding so she missed it). I felt like Lori really cared, and was very helpful with our difficult situation (and a very upset bride at that!).

Her husband sang and played the guitar at our wedding and we got so many compliments on the whole wedding! It was a beautiful day - I was so sad that my mom could not come, but the wedding turned out beautiful and just as we wanted. Lori is sooo organized too so everything ran smoothly.

Check out her website: Tropical Maui Weddings provides Maui Wedding Planning Services

And her blog:Tropical Maui Weddings - The Blog!

I can't say enough good things about her and her husband Jamie.

I am also using Deanne of Precious Maui Weddings. She is very nice and I must agree she is VERY quick to respond. This was an important thing for me in chosing a planner!

I'm getting married June 7th on the west side of Maui - but so far everything has been running smoothly!

I am using Kara Byrne from Your Aloha Wedding Co. Maui Wedding Coordinators, Planners & Consultants- Your Aloha Wedding Company: Welcome She has been fantastic. There are lots of photos on the website. I have been working with her for about just over a year now for my wedding this June. She is always on top of things and I couldn't have asked for someone better to help with everything. I am involved with planning some of my vendors too and she has been very helpful about all of the details.

Good luck choosing the best wedding planner to help!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
