2011 Prices

Our TA was able to request some prices for Feb 2011, but we have yet to narrow down which resort. At the moment the pricing is coming up high. We've decided we just have to choose a resort, and hope the pricing will drop. In the end the people that want to be there, will spend the extra bit to be there! I didn't realize it would be this hard to plan this far in advance!

Barbiegirl 27, what resorts are you considering? I just went through that process and it was very overwhelming. Maybe I can help! I did price comparisons based on Jan./Feb of this year. There were many factors that went into picking a resort but one of them was affordability for our guests.

Hi Fsuambs,

At first we were just going by some of the resorts our TA had already planned weddings for, the Grand Princess Riviera, Gran Porto Real, RIU, Barcelo. All of these were pricing well over the $1500/person we were hoping to get! She's now requesting for some more.....although I fully expect these to come back high as well. This has been a really difficult choice. I really didn't think it would be that hard, but when you're basically choosing a vacation for your guests as well it's much more difficult.

Which resort did you end up choosing?? After doing so much research I kind of have my heart set on one of the Dreams resorts! lol

I have been working with my travel agent and just secured a group rate for my Jan 27 2011 wedding. She got rates for me from Transat, Signature, Sunquest and Air Canada, all had their rates available for 2011. We got what I think it is a good group rate with Air Canada and we are planning on using our free person after the 21st booking to fly out photograher down. Your TA should have no problem getting 2011 rates now.

My TA told me the prices are out but it would be best to wait til they go down...but whether or not they go down or not...i'm going to put something down in April. I have alot of people ready to make payments. which is good cause once they start paying then I know for sure they are coming. lol

Barbiegirl 27,

I completely understand what you are going through! I'm a little bit of a perfectionist and I want everything to be perfect especially for my wedding. We ended up choosing Riu Palace Las Americas. I'm about to do a site visit in April just to make sure! My dad wants to do a father/daughter trip before I get married, so he asked if I wanted to visit the resort before! We are def. going to stick with the Riu Resorts but not sure if I want to keep it there or switch over to the Riu Palace Riviera Maya due to the location. The following are some of the reasons for picking the Riu Resorts: it's affordable for guests, the wedding packages are affordable especially for large groups as we are having a large group, the option to do a reception, etc.

Dreams Resorts are amazing. I don't think you could go wrong. I was torn between Dreams Resorts and the Riu Resorts. My FI actually proposed to me at the Dreams resort in Nuevo Vallarta and it was a "dream." We picked the Riu resorts over the Dreams just because they are more accommodating for larger groups.

When I did my price comparisons the Dream resorts and Riu resorts were similar (e.g the rates for Feb 2010 from Feb 9-16 the rates were the following: Riu Palace Las Americas @ $1, 213, Riu Cancun @ $1,000, Dreams Cancun @ $1,200, Dreams Puerto Aventures @ $1,200, and Dreams Tulum @ $1,300.

Hopefully this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Do you happen to know how far into 2011 the rates from all those providers are for? I would imagine they'd have them out up to at least Jan if not Mar 2011 but I got the impression from past posts on here nothing earlier than 1 year out.

Thnks!

Fsuambs, thanks so much for those prices for this year....by the time the TA finally got back to us, it was too late to do price searches for Jan/Feb. My FI is worried that I've got my heart set on something and it's going to be too costly. Once I told him that he felt a bit better about choosing one of the Dreams resorts! Now if only our TA would get back to us!

^ Really? But the packages for many of these providers generally indicate flight is included. For example, Air Canada is an airline as well as a vacation planner.

If that's the case, the prices are pretty high. I thought when you booked packages, flight is part of the "package"?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
