I noticed on Itravel2000 that on Monday the week price of our resort for the week we are getting married was over $3000 and today it dropped to just over $2400 so for those waiting, be patient. It looks like prices are already starting to go down.

I am getting so anxious to book already! We decided to get STD/travel info packets out around mid May and include whatever the current prices are b/c our TA will price match if rates come down more! Hopefully they will! I hadn't heard about waiting till Aug. Did your TA say rates typically go down in Aug?
Wow I hope that they come down too. I decided to take a peek at DRC 2011 rates. They're an easy 2K pp! :-s I told my guests to bank on that amount thinking that they would be pleasantly surprised when it was less. Now its looking like that might be right on target :-s

I am happy with the rate I was quoted as I told my guests that the cost would be around $1500. I am still waiting for all the carriers to set their 2011 prices. Hoping it will go down even more. West Jet requests full payment right away. I would rather go with Air Canada or Sunwing as the guests can put the deposit down to hold the rate. I asked my TA what happens if the prices drop and we paid the deposit...most airlines do not adjust, you have a choice and go with lower rate but loose deposit. Sometimes it worth it, sometime it is not... So, I am sitting tight and waiting at least till July, August....January and February are slower travel months, so the chances of them being sold out are very low....I really trust my TA, she works at Maritime Travel which is located at the Bay where I work as a senior executive. She always offers me great advice with no pressure, they do not work on commission. My ideal price of $1500 was set on the average rate for this hotel (Grand Riviera Princess) in slower months of the year, like end of April ...That's the reason I chose my hotel.

Ladies, have patience...that's my advice. I go down south every year and I never bought the tickets so early...

My TA is with Maritime travel too ... I think I will take your advice and play the waiting game for a month or two.

I know I've asked this question before but dunno which if it was in this thread. what did you guys put in your STD regarding price? If you already sent them out, how are you planning to communicate with guests when the prices come out? We are inviting a huge number of guests and it would be a chore for us to send our STDs now without pricing and then communicate with everyone once the prices come down. Not everyone is tech savvy so I know they wont all check our website.

We've made a group on facebook, we've made our website. For all those not on the web, which is mainly just some family members, both of our parents are spreading the word.

Great way to get people to stop texting/emailing me asking if i've heard anything yet.
annoying isn't it?!?!?! lol

we found as soon as we did that since people don't know when we updated the website, it helped a lot.....people really got that the pricing still wasn't out and we'd let them know when it was!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
