UGH is right!

I have currently sent out my save the dates with a short little letter explaining the costs and what not.

We're having our wedding July 8 2011, gran bahia principe punta cana.

Pricing for ours seems to be about the same every year. not to worried. between 1300 and 1500.

I did check itravel2000.com and selloffvacations and there are some really good deals and some really EXPENSIVE packages, too! Wow. It's all so much info to take in. It seems Punta Cana is the cheapest so I think we're going to go with that. The prices are so deceiving with our killer taxes. $800 suddenly becomes several hundred more!

Another question (i'm full of them!), did you ladies decide on a date before looking at prices or after? Originally I was thinking Apr/May. However, it seems March is actually the cheapest month for PC at least, this year. I'm surprised as I would've though spring break time is one of the highest priced.
My FI and I went in to our TA with a "general timeframe" but really were looking at what week/month was cheapest. We were looking anywhere from end of Jan till mid April. Found that the end of Jan was the cheapest (our TA found anyway).
I don' t know what TA you're using but keep in mind if you find a lower package at selloffvacations or itravel200 take it to your TA maybe they can match it.
That's what we did with ours! saved us about $100 a person.
Good luck with the planning!
Cheers

It must be v frustrating for all of you who are getting married in the first quarter of 2011 as over here in the UK from October 09 we could book our trip; ie flights and hotel for Jan 2011. They were even available all the way through to 30 April 2011. So the hotels must know their prices; I feel for you all. We went through as TA though so I dont know if this makes a difference.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
