Hi - we have 29 guests, and we are going to have place cards. Even though it is a small wedding, we think that if people were not told where to sit they would just gravitate towards the people they already know. By using place cards we can sit members of his family with mine, and hopefully that will be enough encouragement for people to get to know each other.

I like the idea of place cards and my wonderful mother has offered to write them in calligraphy which is even better! I second the idea about how it's nice to mix up the group and we will be having a head table as well. The one thing I think we're not going to do are menu's...I don't think they are necessary. What are others doing on that front?

We have 40 ppl coming & are doing place cards. Like Marcia said, we want people from both sides to interact a little so forcing them to eat together should do the trick. wink.gif

I just want to avoid having one table of 12 crammed together of all his friends and another table of 4 with just mine (or something like that) so we felt like using place cards will help even it out.

Oh & we're not doing menus either.

I think either way is fine. It's a small wedding so if you don't assign seats it's not going to be mass confusion or anything. On the other hand they do make a nice little favour and dress up the venue a bit, plus like others have said you can mix your guests together easily. I say do them if you want too, and don't stress about them if you don't.

ETA- maybe check out some place cards and holders online (I found mine on Etsy). If you fall in love with something go for it, and if they don't do anything for you or they seem like just an additional cost that you don't need then just forget about them.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
