Negril Reception Site Recommendations - NOT SANDALS

We are getting married at Sandals Negril and are appalled at the markup for the reception.

We are having a party of 20 at most-10 are booked or definitely going.

We were told by the WC that beyond paying the per person cost for the dinner (which we are willing to do the $50/pp dinner package) - we only get ONE TABLE set up and to do each additional table is another $500??!!!

It's ridiculous.

Did anyone take their reception offsite? To a restaurant? We are really considering the Rockhouse. Has anyone gone there or can recommend another location where we can have a semi private or private dinner, perhaps with a little dancing or a beach party for our reception?

Other than Rockhouse, I have heard that Kuyaba (DINING AT KUYABA: a feast for the body and soul.) has a good restaurant and Norma's at SeaSplash (Norma's Restaurant | Sea Splash Resort Negril Jamaica) is also good. Keep in mind that you would have to arrange transportation, so this could add to your costs if you are covering it for the guests.

I have heard that if you would like the extra tables at a Sandals reception undecorated, they are free. That means no Martha theme, no flowers, no floor length linen. You would get normal white table cloths, normal china, and glassware. You can always bring your own decorations, but they are charging a setup fee that varies depending on how much you bring.

Rockhouse is really beautiful and the food is good. It's cliffside. Xtubi and Tensing Pen are also cliffside and very pretty. I am staying at Tensing Pen for my honeymoon. Kuyuba is good too, but not as pretty, it's beachside if I remember correctly. I went last spring and ate at all these places. Norma's is yummy! I stayed at Country!Country! it's beachside and they do beachside feasts every week, and the food is to die for. You could walk down the beach to it from Sandals. It's ten minutes. They have all the stuff for a beachfeast it could easily become a wedding beach feast. The staff is wonderful and the food is so good. They don't usually have a big dinner crowd so I bet you could get them to do your whole wedding dinner for a steal. Your guests to walk over or take a few cabs. Give them a call. They would love the business. It's really cute. They will take good care of you. Good luck.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
