Hello fellow Jamaica UK Brides,

Great to have this forum, I am getting married May 2011 and still lots to do.  Anyone booked a photographer, what about your cake? a friend wants to make my cake for me but I am worried about travelling with said cake  1. not sure if can briung such things into JA and 2. Will it travel well.

As for shopping/suppliers I am trying to stick to my budget by checking out ebay, tapping into the creativity of friends (you will be suprised at what they can do when you ask for help). Wedding fairs are also great and you can take advantage of show discounts so go with a list if things in mind so you can benefit from show prices...

Still planning but I know all will be well...

Hi catererbride I was beginning to wonder if i was alone.  Where are you getting married?

My biggest struggle is the budget and trying to stay within it. Followed closely by guests who say they are coming but yet have not booked. At last count I have 45 guests and only about half have actually booked. I am trying to be cool about it but I am a control freak and need to know NOW...lol.  Surely guests must know if they are attending its not like the wedding is down the road and around the corner... sigh

Like you i have good days and bad days...

:)

I have about 2 coming from the UK and 1 from China, my fiance is Jamaican so his family are all there already. I know what you mean about people booking and yours is a lot closer than mine! Wen some of my guests booked in Jan flights were 508 with virgin and now they are 630 so those guests that haven't booked are kicking themselves.

We are getting married in a private villa in Runaway Bay so it's more personal.

Budget are you kidding me....I thought Jamaica was supposed to be cheap!!?? I spent Christmas and New Years over there with his family and in a lot of cases things are much more expensive than England. I never imagined we would spend this much and planners don't like to stay within budget either...some completely disregard it like there is an extra $20,000 hid under the bed for wedding emergencies!

I have found wedding planners tough to find as well as individual vendors and of course not actually being there to see things/vendors for ourselves is difficult. Control freak? Yup, me too.

How about you? Where are you getting married, which vendors are you using? Spill!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
