How do you make a pomander ball? Is it difficult? Costly?

I bought 6" styrofoam balls from the dollar store, and then I shopped around for all the silk flowers I wanted. I bought dahlias, cabbage roses, hydrangeas, and some daisies from Walmart, Michael's and the dollar stores. Get a pair of wire cutters and cut the flower stems then jab them into the balls. But before you do, you need to create a tunnel from one side of the ball to the other so you can pull a ribbon through and tie a knot so that you have your hanger. I will post a DIY thread on how to make these :)

Hi girls!

I got married last August 6th and everything was perfect!! We have returned home one week ago from our honey moon and we want to return! lol

So, I wanted to share my DIY centerpieces. After the wedding at the beautiful beach gazebo, we had appetizers and cocktails and later the dinner followed by a party at the beach of the resort.

The flowershop charged me a lot for the flowers for the gazebo, bouquests, bouttonieres, centerpieces, etc so I decided to change the centerpieces at the appetizers place for a cheap ones.

I bought in Spain the fake fucsia orchids and the fucsia floating candles. I did not buy the vases, I got them free for this moment from the resort, after asking to my planner. As tables were small, we had one for each. My planner did fill them with sand and add some small stones. It looked much more beautiful than in the pics.

I only spent 30 usd instead of the almost 300 usd that flowershop wanted to charge us.

That is how it looked (sorry for the pic, it was taken for one guest).

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
