Hmm, maybe I am wrong, but I always assumed that glass was not allowed on planes (whenever you put out your lotions and other liquids in the ziplock bag, they always say no glass containers). Has anyone had any problems with this. BTW very nice centerpiece, I also wanted to do this, except I want a submersible light in the bottom because my resort is windy (Although, I always wonder what would happen if I just got large vases and filled the water 3/4 of the way and put the candle on top (do you think it would not blow out then?) You answered my question about fake flowers at least. Thanks!

You've done a great job!! For a fraction of the price too! :) This is exactly what I wanted for my wedding! I saw a picture also having them on each sides of the aisle and thought about having them there and then on the tables also. But maybe they'll be too small along the sides of the aisle.

It doesn't look like there is anything at the bottom holding them down, I guess I'll try it to see if they float to the top or not!

THANKS AGAIN for the post and pictures!!!!

I was originally quoted $90 a table for centerpieces! These will cost me less that that for ALL the tables!!

Large Vase (10in) @ Wal-Mart for $2 each
Medium Vase (7in) @ Dollar Tree for $1 each
Orchid purchased from Michaels for $4 (on sale) has four orchids on each stem
Floating Candles purchased from Michaels for $1 each, you can look online for cheaper ones!

I will also be putting votive candles around these vases and some white seashells/starfish to make them beachy. I am putting one vase of each size on the tables surrounded by 5 or so votives. On the head table I will have 1 large vase and 2 small vases (head table made up of 3 long tables, a set of vases on each of the long tables) with votives surrounding them.

Cost = 7 large vase = $14
10 medium vase = $10
7-8 orchid stems = $32
17 floating candles = $17
36 votives (from Michaels) = $15
seashells = $5-10

GRAND TOTAL = $98 (high estimate)

That is less than $100 for 4 round tables and the head table!!!
It looks beautiful! Thanks for sharing.

I have this exact setup on my dining room table right now! I have the same concern as the other brides, though, getting this stuff down there! Were the vases you found at wal mart pretty heavy? I've been searching online for some like those but no one ever lists the weight! Some glass can be really solid and heavy but since we'll likely leave most of our decor down there so we don't have to lug it back, I am totally fine with cheap-o glass so it's lighter and we don't feel the need to keep it :) I'm very interested to hear any creative packing ideas...

also, we're getting married in Jamaica and I heard that shipping things there is basically a lost cause. Does anyone have any insight into this? I'm wondering if I can try to ship it early and see if it makes it...if so we're good to go, if not we're in the same place we are now...

You did a really great job! They look fabulous.

I am ordering the exact centerpieces from the resort, but I am only going to put a few on each table. I think you get 7 or 8 vases for the price, so I was thinking 3 a table since we only have 4 tables. I know it costs more, but I am at that point where I do not want to add anymore to my luggage.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
