you and DH have got to set her straight once and for all....I know the issues you've had with her involve her "just trying to help" but clearly you DONT want it.

You just got married and already she's sticking her nose where it doesnt belong. moms are weird about their sons. maybe this is her way of holding on to him bc now you are OFICIALLY the one he turns to for everything and you are taking her place in his life.

yeah it's small stuff that's happened and she's not being evil, but if YOU feel that it's interfering then now is the time to put your foot down firmly and clearly bc it will only get worse, and then you'll blow up at her and you and DH will end up arguing over her!!

Be strong about this!!! muscle.gif muscle.gif muscle.gif

Lol Lisa! Sorry for your MIL headaches! The grooms cake idea is definitely awesome! Another option would be just to tell her someone ordered a cake as a gift for you.. Or something... I know lying = bad bad but w/e at this point i think unless you tell her that her cake is a doodoopile I dont know if your going to be able to get her off your back.

it's always something with MIL's, eh!

i say get her to make the 'groom' cake...and then tell her someone else is getting you a cake as a gift. white lie if you have too.

that or i seem to be using a lot of reverse psychology lately on family that i don't want to do things for our upcoming wedding. i say oh we'd much prefer if you just relax and enjoy the day, not having to stress out about making a cake, doing photography (whatever the issue is). that seems to work for most people...they get the hint.

lol Linda, I thought about the whole "lying" thing, but it'll backfire on me, I just know it with her!

I'm honestly really considering the groom cake thing. that way, it'll make her happy and then I can still get the yummy cake.

I know this may sound silly, but i'm sad that I don't have a layer of my cake to eat on my first anniversary. That's a major factor in why I want a nice cake for the AHR!

alright quick update!

Ken said that we'll do what I want so getting a nice cake it is! He said he'll just tell his mom that we've taken care of it and not to worry!!! woot.gif This makes Lisa VERY happy!!! lol

Now to decide on a cake and find a place to make one in 4 weeks....UGH!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
