Moon Palace Reception Location

Alison, thank you so much for taking the time to answer all these questions.  I'm having a horrible time getting my WC to respond and you are definitely calming my nerves a bit with these answers as well as the dj info you provided on the other thread.

Our WC, first was pushing for our cocktail hour to be in the grass area outside of the chapel.  I did not want a cocktail hour in the grass so I insisted it be somewhere else.  She got the gazebo next to our reception it and was perfect.

One thing I did not think of was getting back to our side after the reception.  Our WC actually had golf carts waiting to take our guests back to the Sunrise section since our reception was in Nizuc. I would make sure they can get transportation back.  However, we did only have 2 golf carts and 60 guests wanting to go back so many did end up walking rather than waiting.

Our rehearsal dinner is goign to be there.  My WC told me it was in between the Nizuc and Grand side.  It glooks like the chapel is close to there too.

here is the map.  It's #32

Just thought I would write my little update on the Reception locations, based on my experience.

A lot of us went out to dinner together most nights, so we would just show up and request tables of 12 or 14, depending on who had arrived with us. Most times we were split into groups of 6 and scattered throughout the restaurant. At El Caribeno, they managed to put us all in one section. So be prepared for a lot of table hopping.

We used the restaurant reservation for a welcome dinner a few nights before the wedding. We reserved Palapa Fragata, which is located next to the kids area at the Sunrise Pool. I chose this because I knew it was close to the presidential suite that my parents requested. When we arrived all the wait staff applauded and had champagne ready to serve. They serve seafood here and the menu was great. We were pretty much the only people there and they made one long table for all 26 of us.

We had arranged to have our cocktail hour and reception dinner at the Bugambilias Terrace. They set up the dinner tables on one half and a small area with chairs and a few tall tables for the cocktail hour. After cocktails, they cleared out that space for the dance area. With 30 people, there was plenty of room for everyone. It was very private because it is between Nizuc and Sunrise, set back from the beach. I didn't see anyone but our group and it didn't look like anyone was even occupying the nearby rooms.

Ladies here is a video of what the fire dancers look like.

I got this video from another bride on the BDW site but after reading all the comments I thought you should see what you are about to buy.

I too was interested in the fire dancers until I saw this.

hey bojanglesgirl,  I posted the link after receiving the very same link from Zuniga/Deco Cancun.  The good thing though is that MP has daily shows and the fire dancers will be there so no need to hire them.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
