Dreams: Luminares, lanterns and canopy

Recommended Posts

I have a few questions for all you Dreams Brides. For those brides that had luminares, hanging lanterns and the canopy on the beach to stand under, did you purchase them through Dreams or a florist or make them yourself? I love the look of the luminares and canopy. I like the hanging lanterns but I could do without them.

We brought the luminarias ourselves (we made them with our logo printed on them, they looked great, I loved them!) - Sarah Aquarider (DIY queen) posted a thread on how to do it. It was cheaper to bring them than pay for them down there plus we wanted our logo on them for some extra color.

Maye got the canopy for us (for the beach) where we got married. Mariana can also get it, but I think Mariana was $50 more, so we had Maye get it. It was bamboo & exactly what I wanted.

We didn't do the lanterns b/c we had our reception at Cascada. It's easier for them to hang the lanterns at Oceana.

Let me know if you want pics of anything or more details.

Jen

I bought my luminary bags from e-bay, but they're just white paper bags that can be purchased anywhere and cheap white votives from Bed Bath and Beyond. Dreams staff will fill with sand and light before reception. Plan on placing around pool and down steps to restroom on Oceana Terrace.

The lanterns were bought online from paperlanternstore.com or asiaideas.com. Dreams Cabo charges approx $180 for the wiring and setup over the dance floor. 30 lanterns total 10" + 12" (other girls used larger/smaller sizes)

I'm renting a chuppah (canopy) from Maye. There was an option to purchase flowers for it, but we're just using white fabric (included in cost).

I'm not using an outside coordinator to ask about the canopy. I guess I'll have to ask Yessica how much it is to rent. I'll look for the luminares thread but about how many did you have? My reception is at the Cascada as well.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
