Not going all out with decor

Recommended Posts

I am so glad I found this as well! This board is soooo helpful that it also makes you feel like you have to do waaay more than you planned! I was getting tied in with everyones ideas of chair sashes and centerpeices and blablablabla!!! Then I finally took a step back and thought, I never wanted this, I dont HAVE to do this! Everyone is going to be so amazed with the beauty of the resort that they wont even notice those lil details! And neither will we! I'm bringing fans, and lil shells for the table. thats it. I'm glad other people feel the same way. We're getting away for a reason!!! hahahha!

By the way I am so glad I posted this. I feel like I can somewhat breath again. lol

Thanks, I love them too! I may end up leaving them at the resort for future Dreams PV brides, but we'll see.

Glad you posted this too! Lots of people bring down candles/linens/flowers or any combination of decorations and it just depends on how you envision your wedding & how much stuff you want to bring with. Like I said, there's no wrong way to do a DW and no one should feel they HAVE to do it a certain way.
It's easy to get caught up in all things wedding so it's nice to take a step back & relax. Plus it's always good to hear that others feel the same way you do. :)

The only things I'm doing extra is OOT bags, a single center piece, extra photography and we are bringing real tough bouquets. The venue does the arch, sashes, 1hr. photog, cake and a bouquet (i'm using that one to spread down the aisle. So they have anything else I will need.

Of course, it all depends on where everyone lives who is attending your wedding.
Love this idea Lisa! My Mom and I have decided that this is what we'll be doing as well. Most people live within a pretty small radius of Toronto so we'll be dropping off the bags before we go! We're planning to bring favours for the actual reception but in terms of decorations...we're going to stick with simple...I've bought some petals and we'll collect shells to spruce up the tables too! My other plan is to incorporate my BM's and MOH's bouquets into the centre pieces just to add a punch of colour on each table!

I'm glad I found this post. I decided from the beginning that I wanted to keep everything simple. I even have been good with just looking at stuff but not buying anything( as far as decor). We have an extensive guest list and won't have our final numbers at least for a few months. Right now we would prefer to wait and see how many people will come but we want to put the majority of $ into photographer, food, open bar and welcome event.

Our ceremony will be at sunset on a private island beach. I Don't want to have too much stuff to take away from the beauty. Plus I'm a real simple person and don't get too carried away. Over the years after attending many weddings, I don't recall the centerpieces, wedding colors, favors etc. I just remember memories of everyone having a good time at the wedding. I went to a DW in DR a few years back and it was the most amazing wedding ever. Everything was beautiful and the bride didn't have to do much.

Keep it Simple!!

The only thing I am spending money on is some flowers for the gazebo and white chairs. Found some sahes from another BDW bride. I bought an aisle runner and some rose petals. THat is it. We are taking the flowers from teh ceremony and using for the reception. I think everyone will be so overwhelmed with the beauty of the location that you don't need too much. It is beautiful in its own right. But I did go overboard on OOT bags. :-)

I'm doing minimum! i'm only bring myself, my OOT bags, clothes and shoes!!!!

I'm trying to so it as simple as I can. the beach in itself to me is more than enough. I will bring my own real touch flowers though. and maybe some place settings...ok...let me stop there before I add anything else. lol

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
