Dad will not be attending wedding

Recommended Posts

My Dad has NEVER flown before and he tried to act like he didnt want to go- but then we had a "come to Jesus meeting" and he saw how much it would hurt my feelings... He is taking the plunge- and getting on that plane :)

I've already posted a thread on here asking for advice about something along these lines. My dad can't attend for health reasons so i'm going to walk down with my little boy. Hes only 2 and hopefully I won't end up chasing him around, but its a solution & he is one of the most important people in my life :)

That is a really sweet thing. I have a three year old so I know what you mean by chasing him. lol

I think whatever we all do it will be great.

On another note my Father keeps writing my Mom emails about how he is so mad that my grandfather will be walking me down the aisle or coming to the wedding. But I feel like my grandfather has been far more of a Father to me then my Dad ever was. Hope you ladies have a wonderful wedding no matter who walks you down the aisle.

If I could tell EVERYONE to look away until I'm at the front then I'd totally be good :)

Just do whatever you're comfortable with. If that means walking on your own or having a close friend walk with you then go with it! It works out especially well if you've got uneven numbers in your wedding party like me!
Won't the spotlight be on your dad anyway when everyone notices that he's there but not walking you down. I just don't want him to be more uncomfortable than he already is. If you walk by yourself, then it just looks like you want to be by yourself, but if you walk with someone else, it looks like either you or he doesn't want him to. Maybe everyone that is going already knows his situation and then you are fine. I just worry (my mom doesn't even want to go to my wedding because she has "no desire to travel" and I'm so worried about what my family will think of her, because I love her and am protective of her and I don't want people thinking "Why couldn't she just suck it up for her daughter's wedding?") I would hate anyone to think that of your father. Wow, that was a long little rant (but it came from a good place) :-)

As for Megan24 - as you just read , my parents might not come either (my dad wouldn't go without my mom) so I may be in the same boat. I think it looks very nice to have the bride walk down on her own. There is that moment when all you see is the bride walking toward her future husband and their eyes meet. They share a smile that seems to hide their secret thoughts and wishes. It makes me cry more to see a bride on her own (she goes from being one to becoming two). Man I'm full of cheese today!

Anyways, what she did had me bawling like a baby. It was very symbolic. She stopped at the end of the aisle (before walking down) and her fiance actually walked down the aisle to go get her, and they both walked down together. It was her way of showing that her fiance is now the new man in her life and is most important to her. Soon as the music started playing and you realized that she wasn't walking down, but he was coming to get her and they were going together, it was just a cry fest!! It's another option you can consider.
OMG that almost made me cry while reading it, never mind witnessing it! I think that's a fantastic idea! If I didn't have anyone to walk me down the aisle, I would definitely do this!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
