Dad will not be attending wedding

Recommended Posts

My first wedding I had my grandpa walk me down the aisle, even though my dad was actually attending the wedding. I just felt like my grandpa had been a better parental figure than my dad. Now for this wedding, my grandpa has passed away sad.gif and my dad has made efforts in the last few years, so I will ask him to walk me down the aisle. I also have asked my mom because she deserves it more than him, and it wouldn't be fair to exclude her.

One of my good friends had a similar situation as yours (no longer speaking to her father and she invited them to the wedding, but he refused to come). She didn't have any of her family come, so she couldn't ask her mom or grandparents.

Anyways, what she did had me bawling like a baby. It was very symbolic. She stopped at the end of the aisle (before walking down) and her fiance actually walked down the aisle to go get her, and they both walked down together. It was her way of showing that her fiance is now the new man in her life and is most important to her. Soon as the music started playing and you realized that she wasn't walking down, but he was coming to get her and they were going together, it was just a cry fest!! It's another option you can consider.

Thanks I might just have my Mom and Grandpa both walk me down the aisle. They both have played the most important roles in my life

By the way I love the back of your dress it is so pretty!!

My dad wont be coming because of money issues and I lost my mother, actually the only family I have coming is my niece. I assumed I would just give myself away. If you are close to your FI dad, maybe you could ask him? or if you have any close family that is coming, you could ask them to walk you down the aisle.

Thank you Megan!

I think it'd be really, really sweet if both your Mom and Grandpa walked you down the isle.

Megan,

I would be lost if my Dad could not walk me down and with his health I pray everything will work out in July.

I think is pretty cool and awesome your grandfather is able to walk you down the aisle. I have even seen where the Mom & Dad walked the daughter. So you could have Mom and Grand Dad.

Either way you seem like you will be surrounded by love on your wedding day and that is what is MOST IMPORTANT!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
