I don't even know where to start planning

Hello ladies!

So, I just started to plan my wedding for prob August 2011....I really wanted in Cabo @ Dreams, I love the location and all the vendors. However FI wants somewhere in the Caribbean....

I'm not even sure where to start! I def want a resort that is all inclusive, and that has lots of daily activities, like boat trips for my guests! I also want a more private wedding, like the resort has a gazebo, and the tables could be set up by the pool in front of the beach...something like that!

Can anybody give me ideas for islands and resorts?

Thanks!

Daniela

Congrats and welcome to the forum! Wow, that's a loaded question! It all depends on what you and your FI are looking for. I would suggest you browse the forum for feedback from girls who've been to both those places, and hopefully narrow down what you and your FI would want for your guests. I was in the same predicament when we first started planning a DW, but for me, it was this forum that helped me decide on Mexico instead of Jamaica. I'm sure no matter what u choose, it will be wonderful! Happy Planning!

So my FI and I had originally thought we wanted to go to mexico, but after looking into it decided on the US virgin islands because the logistics of the wedding are less complicated since its a US territory. The resort that I have been looking at is Marriott Frenchman's Reef Resort in St. Thomas. The gazebo that they do their wedding at is gorgeous. The offer inclusive as well as European style plans and their group rates are pretty reasonable. Congrats and I hope you have a great time planning. There are a lot of great Caribbean locations, I hope you find one that you love.

You have come to the right place! I was lost as well, then I found this site and started to talk to a Travel Agent. From there my FI and I picked our top three countries/regions and started to narrow it down. I spent a lot of nights looking at resorts on Trip advisor and then searching reviews on here, then consulting my travel agent. At first I was overwhelmed... but then the travel agent reminded me I can't even book for May 2011 until May 2010. If your wedding isn't until August 2011, that means you have months to figure it out. Once I was okay with that i was able to calm down :) I am sure wherever you pick will be amazing! Good luck!

Welcome to the forum!!

My fiance and I originally were going to have our wedding Cabo, but after going there the beach is not very swimmer friendly and the sand is very grainy. Cabo, is however very relaxing and we saw many beautiful weddings while we were there!

We wanted that true turquoise water and white soft sand, as well as privacy and decided the Caribbean could not be beat! We will be getting married in the British West Indies in Turks & Caicos and could not be happier with our choice! There are not many AI's in T&C though, only recommended one I know of is Beaches - which I have heard is amazing! There also Club Med Turkouise - but its pretty outdated.

The U.S. Virgin Islands could also be an option for you, however I am unfamiliar with any AI's there.

MUCH luck to you!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
