Newbie -- can't find a dress :(

Hi! My name is Sarah, and I'm getting married on April 10th. I'm not having a traditional wedding.....only a few immediate family members. I'm trying to keep everything casual. I'm having a tough time finding a dress!! I was thinking I wanted a short one, but I can't seem to find one I like. I recently decided maybe I should get a long one, and found what I thought was perfect....Style BC099-Beach Wedding Dresses

But, after doing some research, I'm more than a little hesitant to buy from this vendor. I'm getting so frustrated trying find a dress...I was hoping someone might be able to tell me if it is a good idea to order from this place? I'm sure brides can tell when they've found "the" dress, and I thought I had found the perfect one. I'm so confused!!! Has anyone seen this dress or something very similar in the U.S? I really don't have a lot of time, so I know my options are quite limited. I'm hoping that doesn't mean I can't find the dress for me...

Sorry to be so lengthy on the first post....any thoughts or ideas are very much appreciated!

Hi Sarah, welcome - We are date twins!

Have you tried this dress or a similar one on? If you have heard sketchy reviews on this vendor, i would also be hesitant, but your time is definitely limited. i would go wherever you can and try things one so you can see what looks good and what doesn't, and see if you can either get a sample, or something off the rack, like at David's. i don't know where you live, but i know here in Jersey all of the bridal shops are having huge sales right now.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the response :) I've worn similar type dresses in the past and was just wowed when I saw this dress. I did go to Davids Bridals, but wasn't in love with anything there. I ordered a short dress from their online collection, but wasn't thrilled with it. Basically, I know this type of dress flatters me, but haven't found anything that I really liked before this one. At this this point, I can't bring myself to order from the vendor. Most bridal shops I've been to are extremely limited in what they have on the rack and estimate it would be 12 weeks or so before I would get anything. Unfortunately, I don't have that luxury. I guess you could say I'm slightly panicking!! Unfortunately, there are blizzard conditions right now, so I am unable to get out, probably for a few days. I'd started looking online b/c I was just not having luck with anything else.

Maybe when the weather clears up, I need to visit some new shops.

Welcome to the forum and good luck finding your dress! With your wedding date coming up so soon I hope you can find one fast! Mine just came in last weekend after being ordered in September and needs major alterations because they ordered the wrong size. Not saying this will happen to you but just make sure you get it in time to do a few alterations if necessary! :)

ooo thats pretty. Ive seen one similar in shape, not fabric at JCrew and the price is comparable. Maggie Sottero has a few dresses that are very similiar in style and fabric/detail, but you'd be spending more money. I think there's a thread on here about online dresses/knock-off dresses and a specific company (from China I think); just do a search you'll find lots of info. good luck and congrats!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
