Hi Ladies,

I am seriously considering booking with PPR and I wanted to see if any of you all used a wedding planner?

The resort looks amazing!! I want to get married in May 2009 and dates are filling up quick. I am very busy with work and I just do not think I am going to have time to take a visit within the next few months. I have a bit of anxiety booking a place sight unseen. Any input to alleviate my anxiety would be much appreciated!

Please let me know what you think of the resort. If you do choose this resort I would be happy to send you my wedding pics and any wedding info when we get back next year. I did email some people through tripadvisor that had their weddings their any questions I had about their weddings. Most people are very helpful. I might be able to send you their responses from tripadvisor. If I can figure it out.
Hi i'm also planning my wedding there, i just got back from visiting PPR, Listen this place is absolutely GORGEOUS!!! i cant tell you anything negative about this place, it is really a paradise i am in love with it, i met with Viviana she's also wonderful. dont worry it is a fantastic place to have a magical wedding trust me, about the service we didnt stay there and didnt see much of the staff but im pretty sure they are very nice. if you think the pics you see online are beautiful seeing it in person is even more beautiful. where in PPR are u planning the ceremony? the garden gazebo is a little odd but is nice, the pool gazebo is beautiful but not very private. the main entrance lobby is stunning you see the beach. Good luck with your wedding!!!!

I want to have the ceremony on the beach but I have not decided on a location for the reception. Where are you having your reception? I am a bit frustrated due to the lack of flights to the DR. I am in Dallas and we will have people from Dallas traveling along with several others in Texas (smaller cities) and from California. The flight will be a beating for our guests who do not live near a large city or who are coming from CA. I am having difficulty finding a location that is reasonably priced, and somewhat easy to travel. I like the DR but I think I may need to look into the Riviera Maya a bit more…isn’t this suppose to be funhuh.gif!!!huh.gif

Hi your pics were one of the reasons why i really chose this place, i saw your pics from google I bumped in to your photographers website. I just got back from visiting the resort (09/14) and i can tell you it is spectacular, Viviana is wonderful very helpful, i'm planning my wed in July of 2009 and we're debating wether we should have it at the ballroom by Vivianas office which i think is really nice too, My fiancee liked it better than the terrace by the big theater ball room because the terrace is kind of narrow, how was it where you did it? did you get sand in the food? can the guests keep their shoes on while dancing? how was the whole atmosphere there? we are having 2nd thoughts of having it there. my idea would be very similar to your idea thats how come when i saw your pics i was like i could definately do it there.. how about your flowers who did you get them from? did you choose their photographer? i know i'm asking lots of Q I just feel a little nervous. do you think is ok if we can communicate by email instead?

I really have more questions lol...

Thank you soo much for all your info...

Ana

I am back from my PPR wedding and let me tell you it was PERFECT. You have nothing to worry about Viviana and Carolina and the rest of the team could not have been more professional and accomodating.

I had my first meeting with them on Thursday and we went over all of the details and the invoice. She also gave me a walk through of where the ceremony would be ( gazebo), where the cocktail hour would be set up ( plaza colonial) and where on the beach our reception tent would be set up. She also told me what the plan B would be.

Friday evening we had a welcome reception of cocktails and appetizers at the Jellyfish restaurant, the hotel staff was extremely helpful in arranging transportation for all of our guest and every one had a fantastic time, the staff at the Jellyfish was great too and they gave us an extra hour on the house.

Saturday the day of the wedding I woke up early, called Viviana , went and hung out in her office for a bit while I completed my seating arrangements and kept seeing all the activities that were happening. I then went to the spa and had my hair and nails done. Everyone was wonderful and professional.

At all times I was in touch with Viviana or Carolina, they were always around throughout the day no matter what I needed.. We had the pre-ceremony cocktails in the lobby bar and what a great idea this was, since when it was time for the ceremony to start , they were just able to move everyone all at once. The ceremony was held in the gazebo and the justice of the peace did it in spanish and Viviana translated, the whole thing lasted about 15 minutes. We had the trio perform, and the trio is spectacular, our guests absolutely loved it.

Ladies take in that moment when you are walking down the aisle it truly is special. After we said I do, there were waiters with champagne and mineral water ( for the non drinkers) and we took some pictures with family and friends and then Viviana escorted everyone to the cocktail hour so that we could take our formal portraits. Our photographer was Juan Guzman and he too was just wonderful. It was extremely hot so we were in a bit of a rush to have our pictures taken because 1) we wanted to join our guests and 2) my groom was dying to get out of his suit. So Juan if you happen to be reading this , we did not mean to be rude we were just dying of heat

When we arrived at our cocktail hour to the applause of all of our guests and everything looked beautiful and the food was great. We made the typical Dominican Moonshine drink "mamajuana" our signiture cocktail and hour guests were thrilled. We had a guest book that had a polaroid camera so everyone loved taking random polaroids and signing the book.

Afterwards, Viviana once again escorted everyone to our tent on the beach and once everyone was seated she announced us to everyone. We had the American/Dominican mix DJ and you know what he was GREAT...early on during dinner he played lots of R&B and ballads and then to get everyone dancing upbeat latin music followed by tons of pop, hip-hop, lots of popular music mixed with Latin music.

We did the buffet and everyone raved about the food. We also had the fire dancers, fire works and the cigar roller...I know that this was a decadent splurge but we really wanted to make sure our guests had a great time, since they were coming from the DR, Texas, Florida, California, and even Idaho. After the fire works show Viviana told me that she was going home. She could not have been more great and I do not know what I would have done without her and her team. When the wedding ended we wanted to do it all over again. Afterwards I changed out of my dress and met our guests at the casino followed by the lounge in the hotel.

It really was my perfect wedding. The decor was everything I asked for, the food was great, the music wonderful and most importantaly our guests left thanking us for showing them such a great few days in the Dominican Republic.

Here are a few pics, I will post more as I get them.

Please feel free to PM me with any questions you might have

and once again..PLEASE DO NOT WORRY..EVERYTHING WILL BE PERFECT...I PROMISE

Viviana was my WC at PPC when I got married there in April. She transfered to PPR shortly thereafter. You will have no problems with Viviana. She is great and if you have Royal Service then you couldn't ask for anything more. The resort is amazing, just stunning - hard for words or pictures to even do it justice.

Be sure to eat at the private Royal Service restaurant - the food is phenomenal.

I can't say enough good things about PPR. And if you walk to the right on the beach from the resort - there is real, local shopping on the beach about 1/4-1/2 mile down and then Jellyfish Restaurant on the beach as well. Jellyfish is a MUST - the food is the best I have had ... we actually walked there for dinner 2 nights, even though it was off-resort and not included. It was worth every penny both times!!!

Let me know if you'd like any pics, etc. I have some pics of PPR from a beach reception that was going on when we arrived for our honeymoon - as well as a ton of general resort pics.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
