So Sad

omg that's so sad... i almost cried reading it... I don't know what else to say, but that my thoughts are with you and the family. I think it's amazing that you care so much about them and aren't just upset that it's ruined your wedding plans. Stuff like that really does put things into perspective. *HUUUGS*

I am so sorry to hear this. That is terrible. Sad for the little girl and her family to be going through this, but also sad for you that you will miss them so much in sharing your big day with you. I too am going through kind of a similar situation, not any children sick, but fiance's two sisters and their families probably will not be able to make it, due to unforeseen circumstances, to our wedding either so I an understand how it puts a damper on the wedding plans. I am feeling like I should not be happy and planning my day without them... but what do you do?

Hoping for the best for the little one's full recovery.

Hope you are able to enjoy your special day.

that is so sad. please give your friend my best. And here's an idea. Since the little girl had here hopes up about being your flower girl, maybe when you come home you guys could do a little mock wedding where she can dress up and have her picture made. It is a sad thing, but she still needs fun and excitement. I think the little girl would love that very much, especially since she has all of this on her plate now. You are all in my prayers. I'm so sorry that has happened, I couldn't even imagine what your friend is going through. Truely heartbreaking

  • 1 month later...

So I wanted to update this thread with some good news. My god daughter is responding well to treatment. It is very physically demanding and painful but she is a strong girl. Even through chemo and all the pain that she is in, she still has a very strong spirit and is doing great most days. She is now out of the hospital and set up in a hospital bed at home. She goes into the hospital for mostly outpatient treatment though she does have to spend about one week a month in the hospital receiving in patient treatments. It is still an intensive two year treatment plan but the doctors are now saying that if she keeps on this path she should be able to return to school by September as she should be receiving treatments only once a week at that point. By her 8th birthday, cancer should hopefully be a distant memory of something she conquered.

And from a purely selfish perspective, I am so happy because my best friend and her husband are going to come to the wedding if everything stays on course. As part of our package we got 2 free bookings once we hit a certain number of rooms booked. We have given these to them and her parents will watch the girls for the week so that they can come. I am so happy about this. Mostly for selfish reasons but also because my best friend is working so hard taking care of Lily that she will be long overdue for a vacation.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
