Frustrated!!! Where to find mugs in Canada!!!

Recommended Posts

Apparently it wasn't the measurements of the boxes but the weight itself that drove the price up. Live and learn I guess!

Your mugs should be here pretty quickly then huh? I still can't wait for mine to get here and they better be worth it!! LOL!

I only have good things to say about Factory 21. Our steins/shot glasses have been the best thing and best experience so far. 50 steins, 100 shot glasses in 2 boxes and it was all under $175. That included shipping and about $22 in customs fees. Highly recommended!

okay apparently my week was going too well so I had to get knocked down a notch. Because I added my other friend as a bridesmaid, I called the bridal store where i had ordered all their sandals to add a pair for her. Well it turns out a) the mens flip flops I'd wanted have run out of the brown colour - maybe, and B) the girl who had been receiving my order (not at the bridal store but the company who makes the sandals) worked there yesterday or tuesday, but as of today is NOT employed there anymore and right now they have no record of my order at all!!

And it almost doesn't surprise me because originally I was told they would arrive in three weeks which was either the end of this week or early next week, but when I called to confirm the other day, they said no it would be another two weeks. Oddly enough i'm not even mad or anything, just grateful that I had called already this week and we're on top of it in time to still fix the situation.

Hi Ladies,

We got our mugs last week and I've been meaning to post a picture of them. We bought 44 mugs for $215.00 USD which included shipping costs. Then when FI picked them up here in Canada he had to pay another $16.99 at the Canadian Border Services, which was the GST and PST. He did not pay any brokerage fees because he did all of the paper work himself. He went to UPS and picked up the papers needed to declare the mugs, then went to Canada Border Services to declare the mugs and that is where he was charged the GST and PST. He's not sure exactly how he didn't end up paying more, but I guess if you do the leg work yourself you don't need to pay the extra fees?

Here are the pics, it's been a while since I've done this so I hope they show up!

Sorry, I meant to say we got them from Discount Mugs. The logo isn't the greatest quality, kinda smudged in some places, but at this point we are not too concerned. They couldn't probably be scratched off after the wedding if wanted!

Hey everyone,

My FMIL just received the mugs that I ordered! I live up in the NWT so I had them shipped to her to save on time and shipping costs since we'll be visiting her before the wedding. I was going to have her take a picture of them and email them to me, but FI told me that she knows I must be dying to see them so she mailed one to us (she's so sweet). I'll post a pic once I have it, but she said that they looked great.

Here's my verdict so far (without having seen them):

Shipping time was reasonable. I had to go back and forth a bit with the art department because my first imprint colour wouldn't have shown up well against my mugs, but even with that it only delayed receiving them by a week. So give yourself some extra time when you order in case there are any issues like that.

The customs fees weren't too bad- about $70 on a $230 order. That may sound like a lot, but similar mugs through 4imprint would have worked out to be more in the end. Discount mugs had cheaper mugs and cheaper shipping so even with the extra charges over all I saved about $80.

They sent me ten extra mugs! I double checked, and they only charged me for the 30 that I originally ordered so I don't know what's up with that. FMIL said that there were a few mugs that seemed off- the colour on the mug itself was streaked so she's was thinking that they had to do an extra batch and just sent them all to me?

Hope this helps, I'll post a pic when I have one!

After much searching, we caved and went with Discount Mugs too. Although, when you factor in the shipping, brokerage and duty costs, we could have found the same thing here in Canada for about the same price. All charges in, these were over $6 each. Their customer service was top-notch.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
