sorry, I meant to type ground shipping. I will edit my post. I did call discountmugs to see if they would ship with USPS instead (only about $5 brokerage) but they only use UPS.

haha okay that makes sense then! It sucks that they won't use USPS! I'm half tempted to send it to my friend in Florida since there is free US shipping right now and then have her pass it on. At least that way I know I won't get the brokerage or custom charges!! But at that point it almost seems to work out close enough to the price for ordering from promopays.ca. Plus discountmugs didn't have quite as much selection as the other... why is there so much detail for such a simple purchase!!!!

So, I've got to take back my suggestion about using 4imprint. They've been jerking me around for three weeks now until I finally canceled my order. I'd select a mug from their website, place the order, and then someone would get back to me (the first time two weeks after I placed the order) to tell me it was no longer in stock. Four times I went through this with them- what a waste of time. I'm just going with discount mugs now and to hell with the extra fees to have it shipped- it'll probably won't work out to be more expensive anyway. I'll let you know!

Hi there...sorry didn't get on here the other day to answer! I ordered 60, not 12.....I just meant that their minimum order was low..

I did pay brokerage....on 60 mugs to Edmonton it was $63 and change. I double checked my numbers for you and my final cost with brokerage was $5.51 each. Sorry I guess I hadn't added the numbers up right in my head (which is why I am not in a field that requires a lot of mathwink.gif ).

I don't remember seeing any sort of group shipping option either? If you have a friend in Florida that will get them for you, that is great. Would she then send them up here or take them with her on the trip. Mine showed up in three boxes. Two boxes have 25 mugs in each and the third has 10 - this is so they can leave two on your doorstep and hold a small one hostage till you pay your brokerage fee (this I know from first hand experience). So they are a pretty good size, but if you pay for the extra cargo you could probably check them in bulk with the airline?

Thanks for double checking Raykel!! I only need to order 50 mugs I think but it's good to know what numbers they have in each package. My friend in Florida would just end up sending them to me here as she isn't able to come to the wedding... but judging by some of the other boxes she's sent for me the shipping might end up being close to the brokerage fees anyways. Now i just have to figure out whether it would be worth the shipping price to leave out the middle man step. Hmmm?

Having that info from you definitely helps though so thanks again!!

I hear you Echo. FI is way better than I am about not spending money...but I am good at finding a deal:) So when we spent a day working on that by actually going around to places...like I said, it was worth it for what we wanted. FI agreed that we should get the double insulated stainless, so that drives the cost up a fair bit. The brokerage does seem high (buggers will always find a way to hammer us) but I have shipped things home from a couple of trips I have been on because I have purchased big items and the fees were quite a bit higher, so this did not seem too bad. It all comes down to what you want to spend....these things sure add up. For us I decided $10 a person was lots because they are getting a vacation too and things just add up. So the mugs were right in the price range of what we wanted to spend and the little stuff that goes with them I have found at Costco and the Dollar Store, so crossing my fingers, but I don't think I will even hit the $10 limit I sent:)

If I can help let me know.....send me a pm if you need something right away. Good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
