Matching Flower Girl Dress?

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies,

I am in the middle of planning my wedding and all is going good. I am making a lot of progress and I feel like I will be done way ahead of time or so I thing...lol!

My current issue is the flower girls dress. We have two daughters...our oldest daughter will be 7 at the time of our wedding and our youngest will be 13 months. The issue is that I found a GREAT dress that I am seriously considering ordering for our oldest daughter, but the whole issues is that they do not have it in a size for the baby. I was able to find a different dress that comes in sizes for both of the girls but I like the non matching dress MUCH better.

How can I have our daughters in two different dresses and really make it work when the styles may be different? Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

I think that they have enough difference in age to where it won't really matter. I would just make sure the dresses are in the same color family. The baby will look adorable in anything and if you really love the other dress for your oldest, then go for it. Color has a great way of unifying. My BMs all chose very different dresses, but they are all the same color and it looks great! Good luck :)

Maybe you could fit them both with the same color sash or ribbon in your bridal colors, that is a great way to tie dresses to one other... My BM are all wearing different dresses in different shades of light blue but I am tying them together with a dark blue sash. I agree if you love one dress on one you should go with that one... your oldest will feel special and thankful that she has such a beautiful dress all to herself :)!!!! Good Luck

I was thinking the same thing regarding their ages and the fact that it may not be an issue in regards to their dresses not matching. The dress I really like happens to be a print fabric, so I am hoping that once the spring approaches I can find matching beach dresses. Or, maybe I get that dress for the oldest, and just getting a solid color dress for my youngest. Thanks ladies...well it feels good to know that if I decide to get different dresses that people will not look at us crazy.

Ditto. The age difference is too big to matter. As long as the dresses are in the same color range, you'll be fine. My mom used to dress my little sister and I in the SAME dress (she's 6 years younger than me)... I HATED IT when I was a kid. I think your older girl would appreciate having different dresses from her baby sister. But it is a special occasion -- so it's all up to you. One day wouldn't hurt where the girls are matchy matchy.

Go with the one you love and start a search for one for the baby that is in the same color family/material that could go with it. I think there is enough of an age difference between the girls that it doesn't have to be perfectly matched. My stepdaughter will be 5 and my daughter will be 2 1/2 when I get married and I don't think I will get them a totally matching dress either.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
