It's hard for me to comment on this, only because we choose to have a legal wedding in Mexico, I love the fact that it was our real wedding out there. But with that said with all the trouble of changing my name when I got back to the us, I almost gave up and told Cain it might be easier to just ger re-married in the states. So I can see why you don't want to put up with that crap.. SO, I guess what I'm trying to say is, go for it.

I say go for it. If that's what you guys want then do it.

My hair stylist got married several months ago to get on FI's insurance, apply for passport in married name etc. Her wedding is in two weeks. They just chose not to make a big deal out of it and I think a lot of the people going to their PDC wedding don't know. . .but probably wouldn't care either.

So yeah, I say do what you want...but I wouldn't make a HUGE deal out of it (like throw any kind of party or celebration w/ LOTS of people) because people may start to feel like the destination part is kind of a repeat. I realize it's not...but as a guest I can see where it could possibly feel that way.

Hope that wasn't confusing! lol! :-)

Oh yeah! Little Chapel of the West is cute! I went to a wedding there in May. I think it's supposed to be where Elvis got married. But don't worry - it's not all Elvis themed or anything...it's just a really cute chapel and the guy who did the ceremonies was really nice.

I'll see if I can find a couple pics.

Ok, these are not good pics...but at least you can see the outside and a little of the inside. It was really cute...and kinda funny 'cause there were lots of trees around and it looks almost country - but it's RIGHT across the street from Mandalay Bay! lol!

Tammy,

The hassle you went through is the exact reason we would consider eloping here beforehand.

I do not plan to make a big deal about it at all. The more I think about it, I plan to only tell our parents.

That is a really cute chapel Rachelle! I do not plan to wear my dress or anything like that, maybe just a cute white dress. Well, since it is in Nov. I am unsure about the white...

yeah, but it's November in VEGAS...you can wear whatever you want!! Lol! Seriously though...it will probably still be warm enough to wear a cute cocktail length white dress if you want. SOmething girly for sure - even if it's not white. :-)

Oh yeah, and here's the link to their website if you're interested. They've got a pretty good variety of packages.

I posted this email to family and friends that are going to civil ceremony on friday....

(We sent this to the people who asked to come on Friday, a lot of people don't know....)

hi everyone,

So this Friday, July 20th at Santa Ana Courthouse, Erik and I

will be doing the civil ceremony and paper work......(we will not be

exchanging wedding rings or vows or wedding dress and attire at this

time. We will be doing that on the wedding ceremony in Cabo).

We would like you to join us if you can.....if you can't make it to

courthouse we totally understand (also the courthouse, I heard is

pretty small)...you can meet us for dinner to do a mini celebration.

Amy, honestly I don't blame you it really was the biggest PITA. The whole bloodwork in Cabo wasn't bad at all and I hate needles but the crap we had to put up with in Mi sucked. Plus if you do it now, you might have time to file for your new passport in your married name and that would be one less thing to deal with afterwards.

Ok, now you're putting thoughts in my head! Ryan & I were going to wait until the morning of our honeymoon to get married legally in the US (we come back from Cabo on Sunday to leave on Monday for our honeymoon).

But...flying to Vegas and doing it just the two of us w/o anyone knowing sounds even better! And we could do it before, or after, who cares!

I say DO IT! How fun!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
