Autumn's Texas-Sized AHR

Our wedding season ended with a Texas-sized AHR. Granted this party really was for my parents, we had a good time and was a great excuse to put together a slideshow of all of our wedding events. Enough babbling, this is my AHR planning/review/pics thread!

The Landmark Lofts ~ New Braunfels, TX

I love this location because it has some history behind it. It was a hydroelectric power plant built in the 1920s and has been turned into loft apartments with a great little clubhouse for events. Itâ€s right on the river and so many of the older guests loved to be able to see the renovated building.

Cupcakes from HEB ~ Texas Based Grocery Store

Instead of another wedding cake we used cupcakes from the grocery store. I made custom mini-umbrellas for each one and got a ton of compliments on the idea. Not to mention that cupcakes are so low maintenance and budget friendly!

Schwabs BBQ ~ Local Caterer

We used a little local BBQ restaurant and they were so reasonable to work with. We served brisket, sausage, beans, potato salad and iced tea. Schwabs is so “mom & pop†that they donâ€t even have a web-site and we paid the day after the reception. Gotta love those small towns :)

Water Bottles ~ Costco & Custom Labels

I wanted custom water bottles for the DW, but didnâ€t want to hassle with traveling with them. So I made custom labels for the AHR. I <3 them.

Centerpieces ~ Pre-Loved Goods

I borrowed glassware, used stuff from the DW, bought some green gingham to make some tablecloths for a BBQ-like feel and used shells as the main focal point. Also the submerged flowers were pulled off of my Vegas bouquet. I love re-purposing stuff!

Attire ~ left overs from other wedding events!

I was planning on wearing my wedding dress and then changing into a BCBG party dress, but my mom nearly drove me crazy while we were setting up and I was exhausted while trying to get ready. So I just wore the BCBG dress, hair flower and bird cage veil from our legal day, and shoes from the DW. I’m kind of in love with the BCBG dress.

DH wore jeans and a Robert Graham shirt that was initially planned for the DW (I wore the same shirt in my BD shoot). And somehow his sport coat was conveniently “left at home”.

And some pics of the “sweat shop” that helped me assemble the mini-umbrellas and water bottles when I got to Texas.

It was hard to stay focused after the DW! But don't worry it will go by so fast you won't even realize where the time went.

congrats!!

Thanks! Cupcakes were something I really wanted, but were too pricey for our DW budget. Getting them from the grocery store was such a great deal.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
