hello,

my name is jessica and my fiance and i are planning to get married on february 2, 2007 at casa del mar in los cabos. so happy to see that natasha recently got married there! it's a little unnerving booking everything online. i have spoken to claudia and she does seem very helpful and responsive.

feb is considered high season so the blocked room rates are higher, i hear comments about condos and villas, but has anyone organized group travel packages from sources like expedia or orbitz that include airfare and hotel for their wedding party and guests?

nice to meet you fellow destination wedding brides, looking forward to exchanging thoughts...

Hey,

Welcome!

I tried to discourage our guests from booking through expedia or orbitz for our wedding. Hotels give these bookings a lower priority, so for high season, if the hotel is overbooked, who do you think they'll bump?

Hopefully Tammy will read this soon... she's a travel agent that specializes in dest. weddings.... (Tammy, not TammyM that replied above.) She can probably help you and your guests out.

Let us know if you need anything else!

Welcome Jes!

Personally, I would avoid trying to arrange travel packages for your whole group thru Expedia or Orbitz. The reason I say this is that generally any travel arrangements made through these sites are very restrictive - so if people need to alter their plans after travel has been booked, they will not have much luck doing so without stiff penalties. My 2 cents :)

Welcome!

I'd recommend looking into renting condos at Casa del Mar for some of your guests. They are often cheaper than the hotel rooms, and right there on the same grounds. I'll try to find some links for you.

Our fellow bride Ylan got married there last weekend; I'm sure she'll be back to post a review soon -- and I know she ended up renting condos and booking hotel rooms both

hey there,

it is def. easier to do a room block than to try to scramble to get rooms via expedia/orbitz...that way you have the security in knowing the x amount of rooms will be set aside for your guests. cabo is a popular destination so it is not uncommon for hotels to book out months in advance. we have had brides find out their hotel was booked and have to scramble to find rooms for their guests at the last minute...def. not what you want to do the month before your wedding.

let me know if you need any help.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
