Majestic Colonial Info

I can't answer most of these, except the last question.  We are paying $1500 per person (taxes included) from Toronto for the Majestic Colonial.  I think February is more expensive than April.

Best of luck!

You all are so helpful! We're considering Majestic Elegance for our April 2012 wedding. Do any of you know:

1) If there are any ceremony locations that can accommodate 120 people? We don't want to do the beach, would rather do a garden or gazebo location.

2) If we rent Tiffany chairs for the morning - can you use them again for the reception? Or do they charge you double?

3) Does ME allow fireworks? (That would be amazing!)

4) What's the weather like at the end of April? Would it be too windy for a beach reception?

5) Canadian brides, what kinds of rates are you getting from TAs? Mine quoted between $1700 - 1900 per person from Toronto, but said they would likely go down.

Thanks!

#1- not positive, but i do know they have a large conference room and several ball rooms.  I would email one of the WC's and find out what the capacity is for each.  not sure about the gazebo or garden setting though.

#2 yes.  whatever you get for the ceremony you keep for the reception.

#3-  i'm not sure about this, but i do know they had a firework show for new years this year, so for the right price it must be possible

Good luck!

Yes.  I'm having that dilemma as well.  We plan on getting married Jan 2012.  I want to get the pricing first because if there is a cheaper week in Jan 2012 then i'd book for that time frame.  But i also dont want to wait too long to get pricing because i want to reserve a wedding date and time with the resort before the spaces are gone.  its even more of a challenge because we are have a catholic wedding so we have to find out the availability of the priest.   so confused.

Ang Marie...just a quick word of advice about the Chapel Wedding. We had Catholic Chapel Ceremony  totally booked, invitations were send out and everything. When we met with our Church and were finally given the Pre-Cana dates that our Diocese offered...none fell within the timeframe that the Bishop in DR wanted. So we ended up moving our Ceremony to the beach at the Jellyfish and are having a Catholic Ceremony next weekend here in NY like eight weeks after our Destination Ceremony.

Book your pre-cana ASAP and get all of your paperwork down there as soon as you can. They are very strict there. Hopefully you are all over it and don't run into the problems with dates like we did,

Good Luck!!!

Hi All!

I'm a newbie!!! Getting married the week of August 26-Sept.02

I will be having the free steakhouse meal for the group. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for how to make the first dances happen? Do you think for a large tip the staff would turn down their music and let us play our ipod/docking station for a few songs and speeches? lol

We want to keep the prices VERY LOW. If anyone has a suggestion for a small reception following dinner, i.e a place where we could do a few speeches and have a few dances, that wouldn't cost much I would love to hear about it. We do not want a whole evening reception. We plan to drink and party with the whole resort and I'm sure the disco and other bars will serve that purpose.

Also, how is the volume for the sound system on the beach? Will my guests be able to hear what is happening with all the wind and waves?

And, I'm sure this sounds trivial but will someone come get me in my room when it's time to head to the beach and get married? Or do I have to hide behind a bush or something?

Thanks everyone for any suggestions you have to offer.

Congrat's and Welcome!!! I'm sure like most of us here, you'll find this forum to be invaluable to your planning process! We're doing our dinner in the Steakhouse and I asked our WC Stephany about the whole music thing. She said they will not allow you to play music at the Steakhouse and can't have mic's or anything like that. She said they play their own music in the restaurant and there's no way for them to play mine. I was upset when i learned this, because we are having a very small group and aren't having a private reception. what we decided to do was have a cocktail hour at the Piano Bar before dinner. You don't have to pay for the location and it's already at the bar, so drinks are free and from what i've read the piano bar has the best top shelf liquor selection. Appetizers are pretty reasonable too. For around 20 guests you can do it for under $200. Stephany said she couldn't promise anything, but we should be able to play some music there (we are taking a cd player though bc you can't rent the sound system for this). Your WC will come to your room and get you when it's time. i believe they go get your FI too. We are on a very tight budget, but things are really starting to come together. If you're interested you can PM me your email addresss and I will send you the appetizers list with pricing.Good luck in your planning and have fuN~

Thank you so much for answering my questions! That's too bad about the steakhouse!!!! Maybe we will just take our ipod down to the beach and ask everyone to follow us and dance down there in the dark or something, lol.

I have been looking at that boat option, La Baracaza (I probably just butchered the spelling, lol). It might be one way to combine a private reception and allow us the dancing we want. Maybe even have it on a different evening so I can get the included steakhouse dinner but then a more elaborate reception.

Again, thanks for the info! I've been browsing the forum and have been gathering lots of info. It's such a great resource.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
