Dress code question

I've been to all inclusive resorts before but I thought I read the Majestic has a dress code for the buffet. Do we really have to wear covered up, dressier clothes and closed toe shoes for breakfast, run back to our room to get in our swim suit for the day and do it all again for lunch?

I don't want to see a speedo as much as the next person when I'm eating (ever) but it seems like a lot of work.

I was under the impression that the only places where dress codes are in effect are for the restaurants for dinner.

We are at the colonial.... I asked Claudia and Maritee about doing the first dance at the steakhouse and they both said it's not very private and there is already music playing so it might be weird. But when I asked about possibly doing the first dance and father/mother dances at the gazebo she said that is fine. So that is what we shall be doing...

Buffet is more relaxed. I was there in May and I would wear my bathing suit with a cover up and my fiance would wear his swim trunks and a tshirt. We would both wear flip flops and that was fine. They just want you covered. For dinner you must wear nicer clothes to any of the restaurants but the only restaurant for pants and closed shoes is the french restaurant. All the other ones you can wear nice shorts and nicer flip flops without problems. We ate at the seafood restaurant the one night and my fiance wore a nice tshirt and shorts and this was fine, a man walked in with his swim trunks and a tshirt and they asked him to change and come back. They have live music every night at the terrace bar by the gazebo and buffet restaurant. Some nights it's a sax player others its a band. It's a nice spot!

I had thought that would be the case but wanted to double check, you never know. I live in my swimsuit all day and lucky if my hair isn't a windblown mess that I didn't want to change for every meal.
I know we have to dress up for dinner (a little chilly for damp swimsuits by then) so I can handle that. lol!

thanks, but do you know if it someone you can hire? I don't want to pay 2500 for the band they have, but want a band for about an hour (i'm going to do a beach reception).

I don't think so. They have a trio or the band you can hire but you know the prices, I don't know if they have anyone for an hour. We are bringing a bose and making playlists of the songs we want. You can search for bands in punta cana but you will have to pay $50 per person to bring them in. Another option is DJ Mannia, it's not a band but I heard he's really good and his prices weren't too bad, my fiance and I just decided for the amount of people we have we would buy a bose ipod dock and make our own playlists and this way we have the bose for our house after our wedding. Sorry, I know this isn't exactly the info you wanted but maybe you'll like one of the other option?! Good luck!

We were on the Elegance side last year and they wouldn't let my 18 year-old into the Italian place in pants and a shirt with flip flops...told him he needed to have shoes on.

We are having a civil ceremony at Majestic Elegance and struggling to understand what documents we need despite a call to the DR embassy - any experienced brides who can help would be greatly appreciated.

 

We are both divorced so I think we need:

- Birth Certificates

- Divorce Decrees

- Single Status certificates

 

All are legalized at the DR embassy - do we also need all 3 in both English and Spanish? Do they need to be translated by the consulate? They told us since our divorce decrees are several pages would be really expensive - any ideas on cost?

 

P.S. We are American!
