Majestic Colonial Info

Oryx, look around at all the gazebo vs. beach pictures and see if that helps. Facebook has some great pics, or even youtube majestic colonial weddings. There are some videos of gazebo and beach weddings so you can get a moving visual!

Pros for Beach-

-setting is absolutely beautiful, whats more romantic than clear blue water and the sun in your face?

-you can fit as many people as you want

- can be a bit more casual

Cons for Beach-

-wind and sun in your face

-passerbyers

Pros for Gazebos

-more privacy and intimacy

- shaded somewhat

-less chance of passerbyers

Cons

-small compared to the beach setup

-makes things a bit more formal

Thanks for posting brendali.caban!

As for the direct flights, I am also slightly concerned about that. Depending on the demand, there may be no direct flights from Halifax at the time of my wedding, so guests may have to fly to Toronto first to get to Punta Cana. I think the risk for me is slight, and most will be coming from Toronto anyways, so we shall see.

I guess depending on where you fly from, I am flying out of NY so I know getting a flight much closer wont be an issue. Like I said, I would check with the airline what their cancellation and flight policies are. If you find a decent priced flight now and then see one that is better closer to the date, maybe you can pay whateevr the penalty or airline charges to get that flight...just suggestions.

I dont think now is the only time you will be able to get direct flights...I feel there will be flights that are direct available closer to your date, no?

I know that airlines do have certain policies with switching flights, such as pay an extra 100 to switch to an early flight or nonstop...

What airline is it that you are looking to book? Maybe I can check out what there cancellation/change policies are...

I hope i somewhat answered...please, if I misunderstood, correct me!
Thanks for letting me clarify.
From Thunder Bay there is only one trip per week direct to Punta Cana. I can go through Toronto with more options but it will cost my guests an extra $400-$500 for a flight to Toronto.
For 2010 the one trip during the week on are Thursdays so if I book my ceremony for Saturday I should be ok. But I called a TA and the direct flights happened on Saturday's in the past. So then I could book it for Tuesday but would not find out until June if they go back to Thursdays for a direct flight so my wedding would be on my last day there.
I hope that makes more sense.
Oh and Punta Cana may not even be the place they flight to direct from THunder Bay, a few years ago it was Cuba. So I am likely going to have to book through Toronto and hope for a great seat sale.
We're pretty limited here with the next International airport an 8 hour drive from here to the west or 18 the other way.
If you could see me I'm pulling out my hair.

Hi YIweddings,

Don't know who you're going to book with but we booked with WestJet Vacations - I was the point person for the group - and it saved us quite a bit. Mind you were going in June too. But I have three people leaving from Thunder Bay and they are flying into toronto like the rest of us and then we are all taking the same flight into punta cana.

Cost for their trip tax in was $1375. We're going from May 29th to June 5th.

Hope that helps.

Westjet has offered direct flight to Punta Cana for 3 years now leaving on Saturdays, so smile! You'll be fine!

I'd book your wedding as early on in the week as possible. Eliminates the chance of tan lines. Try for a Tuesday.

Hi everyone! I am getting married on February 22, 2010 and have a couple of last minute questions.

1 - What music does the resort provide during the ceremony?

2 - After the judge does the legal part, can we have traditional vows? Who reads them so the bride and groom can "repeat after me"?

3 - If you reserve the terrace for dinner ($300), do you have to pay for an open bar, or can your guests just go to the nearest bar for a drink during dinner?

4 - Where can I find nice, inexpensive chair sashes and table runners?

5 - Is the cake cutting at dinner or at the reception?

6 - How much does the resort charge for the translation of documents?

Thanks for the help! Happy planning:)

1 - not sure. They kept my CD that I made so that should be there! HA!
2 - Yes you can have traditional vows. You can either write them on paper and read it yourself, or you can get the co-ordinator to read it for you. (Maritee did for me anyway).
3 - You can rent any area and not get the open bar. Keep in mind, that you only get the section for 2 hours though (8-10)
4 - don't know
5 - you can do the cake whenever you want. Just let them know.
6 - The resort does not translate your documents. Which documents are you talking about? You need to have any documentation prepared before you get to the resort.

Hope this helps?!

congrats!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
