24 karat gold is naturally a mustard yellow color. What you see in stores is usually 18kt (which is 75% gold, 25% another alloy), 14kt (58% gold) or 10kt (41% gold). Natural gold is soft so it is mixed with other alloys to make it more durable.
You get white gold when they mix gold with alloys that will make it turn white. Most of the white gold jewelry that you see in the stores has a rhodium plate on it to give it a whiter appearance (lots of silver is also sold with a plate over it to give it a shinier look).
With time the plate will wear off and expose the metal beneath which in a lot of cases (not not always) will have a yellowish tint to it. You white gold will never look at yellow as a yellow gold ring but you will notice that slight yellow tint.
On my ring I only really notice it around the bottom where it probably gets dinged more.

I have heard dipping can be anywhere from $100-$200.

I have a platinum ring, which was initially more expensive sure, but it never needs upkeep, so over the years of dipping it, it probably is no more difference in price!

Yeah you need to get it cleaned and dipped again. Mine is a bit more yellow than it used to be but compared to my brand new wedding ring it's not too bad. It helps if you remove it to put lotion on and if you don't do a lot of washing with it on. I personally don't take it off to wash my hands or shower (because I'll probably lose it) but I do take it off to put lotion on when I'm at home and I have somewhere safe to put it while I do that.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
