How do I tell my guests NOT to bring gifts to the DW!?

Recommended Posts

some people will want to give you a present if they don't come.... i agree that i don't want anyone who comes to worry about an added expense of a gift, but what about those who aren't coming who want to buy something? i have no idea how to word this but does anyone have any suggestions? registering is better than getting stuff you can't use or don't want, right? what are your thoughts?

Dont worry about it!

People are not going to want to lug gifts with them. We got about 8 cards at the wedding. I had out ILs keep track of them and then we put them in the safe and carred them home.

All the other guests did not want to carry the extra money or a gift either. So they sent them in the mail.

it is really a non issue.

I put it on our website last night. I was also thinking about adding a "non-registry" card inside of the invitations when they are mailed. I know a lot of people put registry cards in, so I can put in a little insert that talks about our honeymoon registry and not to bring gifts!

I agree with Erika. Dont worry about it. if someone that is coming to your wedding is going to give you a gift they wont want to carry it all the way there and they will prob ship it before or after the wedding or they will give you a card. We got 6 or so cards from our wedding put them in the safe and then carried them home, they will most likely give you a check..before cash.

I def. wouldnt stress about it.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
