Arrogant Executive of Vancouver Company

I am beyond upset right now so I definitely need to vent. I have been planning a party in Vancouver for a friend's bachelorette which just happens to fall within the Olympic Madness timeframe. I was originally awarded a time and reservation at an upscale lounge, but was then told that my reservation was no longer accepted and that if I should wish to attend still I would have to pay double the price. As insulting and appalling this was, the real story came after I received an email from Craig Stowe (founder and co-partner of Jet Set Crew - the company responsible for hosting the Olympic party which nullified my original reservation). Craig Wrote me the following response (please heed special attention to the last paragraph)

HI Ana-Maria

I guess Benji didn't know the Olympics were coming to Vancouver , when he took the booking , sorry for any problem this may have cause your group.

As you suspected JetSet is hosting an Olympic party at Canvas on the 13th , may I suggest you book the weekend before if you would like to experience a regular sat night at Canvas.

Or book contact Simon and book into a real Olympic party with hot available successful men.

Best Regards

Not only was this a disgusting and unprofessional email to receive from a person of his status but how presumptous that all women interested in attending a party would only wish to do so at the prospect of meeting "rich" men! In today's time I believe this to be a sexist and demeaning remark and one that shows exactly how much the "Olympics" have gone to everyone's head.

I don't even know really what to do with this. I sent the email to a few news stations and radio stations, maybe someone will pick up on it. I just can't believe that a professional would ever write this!!

I can't believe he said/wrote that!!! Seriouslyhuh.gif!!!huh.gif

Sighhh...You should've responded back saying just what you said b/c I think its perfect.

Its a totally assinine assumption to think that since it was for a bachelorette party, your focus & interest would be in hanging with "hot available sexy men"! His comment is ridiculous & absolutely sexist.

Don't you love how men with money think they can get away with whatever they want. Eww and he's so old too. Total pig.

And sorry about your situation...it really is madness here with the Olympics. Let me know if I can help you with anything...I know you used to live here (I think?) but I'd be happy to scope some places or make resos somewhere for you. Might be easier if someone does it in person?? Just let me know!

OK... I know I am going to be in the minority on this one, but here goes....

Mr. Stowe is a party promoter...it's what his company does. He's not an insurance executive for heaven's sake! I'm sure he's a little cocky, but probably not a total DB when it comes down to it. His events are usually kicked up when hotties of both sexes attend and let's be honest here...Generally when men and woman go out to clubs and bars they ARE looking to meet attractive, successful, available guys/gals. No one wants a broke ass married loser that looks like he/she was hit in the face with a bag of nickels!

Why not take advantage of the situation? Obviously it is going to be quite the soiree, eh? See what kind of discount he can offer you gals, being that his gig bumped yours....

Emphasize that you are a bunch of hotties looking to have a blast of a bachelorette party. I bet he'd hook you guys up, if not that night, for another event. Maybe you'd have a time of it, meet some celebs...could be entertaining.

Play nice and WORK THE ANGLE!!! Just my $.02

wow, what a jackass! Ana, definitely write him back with what you just said to us...he needs to know that kind of behavior is not only totally unprofessional but completely disgusting and chauvinistic! Yuck! Is this guy stuck in 1950 or something? Last time I checked, we ARE in the year 2010....geez! rant.gif rant.gif

Thanks Nat, I already cancelled that booking. We're going for a late dinner at Chambar and then I have a few contacts in the club business there, so we might either go somewhere in Yaletown or this other place that my friend owns.

I did respond to his email and told him that he was quite presumptuous to think that (a)I'm not successful on my own and (b)I'm looking for a man.

Marak, I 100% DISAGREE with your comments. Seeing as how this is his business he is jeopardizing his own company by making those comments. Furthermore, a "womens moguls olympic party" is not QUITE THE SOIREE, and I very much doubt there will be celebs...either way, I'm not exactly in awe of celebs and have zero desire to integrate myself into a shallow materialistic crowd. I don't need other people to "take care of me" or my friends, and show us a good time. If I wished to act like a bimbo I probably would never have gotten married, and Mr. Stowe's comments would not have offended me.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
