I've Had a CRAPPY Day!

The vet said depending on which textbook you read, there is an incubation period of 7-21 days. Regardless, he didn't get it while he was in my care.

I emailed the breeder asking for the money back I paid for him. I just got an email back from her stating there was nothing she could do.

I caught her in several little lies and it really ruins her credibility.

I dont even care about her or that damn money anymore. I just want Jack to get well.

I am getting dressed now so I can go visit him... sad.gif

Nothing works better than a nice letter letting her know you are going to be contacting a lawyer about getting your money back.smile43.gif

i'm glad he's feeling a bit better today!!!

here's a story about what a good breeder does w/ a sick animal - however, if you're eating, skip past it.....

brief backround: we have bengal cats, which are bred from asian leopard cats. they are pretty wild and don't really bond to more than one person until you get to the 4th generation (or so) removed from the asian leopard cat.

when we decided to get a second kitten, we went back to the same breeder we previously bought from. we picked a silver f3 (3rd generation removed from asian leopard cat) bengal who came to us w/ worms, which is relatively common for a kitten. even after rounds of antibiotics, he had constant diarrhea and his whole digestive system was so messed up that he leaked poop. he'd jump and poop would drip out....we love animals, but we had white carpet and so he was the source of MAJOR arguments in our house...the good thing about him was that because he was an F3, he was still pretty wild and never really bonded with me, and only bonded a little bit w/ my FI. we asked the breeder, and she didn't have answers for us...b/c she's a breeder, not a vet...SO after vet visits and $$$$$$ spent, our options were either spend more $$ for surgery, that may/may not determine the illness, on a cat that didn't even like us - or return him to the breeder. so we emailed the breeder and said that we didn't have the means to take care of him anymore...she told us to bring him back and she'd send him to her sister's cattery, which is mostly outdoors in upstate NY, so the poop thing wouldn't be a problem, if it didn't clear up. she said that the only other kitten that she had at that point was a black spotted male (we had wanted silver) but that if we waited, we could get pick of the next litter...so we brought the cat back and exchanged him for a healthy black spotted male, who instantly bonded with us.

wow that was longer than i thought ... point is, the breeder took him back b/c she knew the repercussions - we'd talk to other people, other vets, anyone who would listen if she did the wrong thing (aka not take him or not offer assistance in some way)...she knew that we'd say good things if she did help us.

i know that this is going to make me sound like a major beotch - martha, after a healthy little jack comes home, make sure that this breeder is very well aware of all the talking that you could/will do...from vets to forums to friends to the BBB, make sure she knows that she will NOT have too many customers if this is how she conducts business. jack was sick in HER care, and she should not have sold him to you w/o some kind of health guarantee; i'm sure that the second she knows that you mean business (when you have a clear head, and you're not so worried), she'll wise up and offer some kind of monetary relief.

I never mentioned contacting an attorney. Are you saying I should or did you think I did and are saying it was a bad idea?

I called AKC. They really dont have a complaint dept. All the rep said to do was contact the BBB and file a complaint.

I got another email back from the breeder. Again, all she said was could return him for my money back and that she was being nice by offering that because the receipt says the purchase is non-refundable.

HELLO! He is already at the vet and I already paid $600 just for 2 days...he will have to be there 5-7! I am not returning him to her! No way, no how!

I just got back from seeing him...they had given him pain medicine about 45 min before I got there...he was SUPER sleepy. He tried to sit up and give me some love, but he just couldn't. They promised it was just the meds and that before they gave it to him he was standing up wagging his tail!

No more vomitting since this a.m. and no bloody diarrhea! I am gonna call them in about an hour and see how he is doing.

I keep trying to remind myself that I got him when I did! Who knows if she would have even taken him in.

Thank you guys for listening to me....It really means a lot. I truly, truly appreciate it!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
