Back from Site Visit!!

Hi ladies,

I just came back from the Bahamas for a site visit. I wasn't sure if I should spend the money and go, but I am sooo glad that I did. As many times as I have been to the Atlantis, I could not not exactly place in my mind the location that I picked to have the reception...but something did not sit right with me. In any event...I changed the location to a GORGEOUS setting at the resort. I am sooo excited. Also, the wedding coordinator that the ATlantis provided was soooo very amazing. I had been a bit worried that maybe I was lost in the shuffle...now I feel confident that the Atlantis is very much on top of things.

I was also able to finalize and leave a deposit for my welcome reception. THAT was a major priority as I was having a lot of trouble communicating with the location. In addition I met with the decor and flower company.

In addition, a friend of mine suggested that I pick up a few items for my welcome bags while there so I went to the straw market downtown and got a few inexpenisve items that have the word "Bahamas" on them...nothing too much...just key chains and bookmarks...nonetheless...I love that my guests will have some souveniers in their bags.

I also had a chance to see the Cloisters...all I can say is OMG...the gardens are STUNNING!!! Surprisingly, it costs the same to have your wedding ceremony here as the Atalntis....actually...they give you more at the Cloisters...including champagne....which I do not get at all. The only reason I choose the Atlantis over the Cloisters is that I actually wanted to get married on the beach.

Anyway...I had the thought that I would go there and take pictures for my TTD session the day after my wedding but then my wedding coordinator stated that they charge $800 JUST to take pictures!! I will PASS on that!! LOL

I still need a steel band to play at the cocktail hour and a DJ or band and a videographer ,make-up artist and hairstylist...but by going there..I was able to get a few leads. If anyone has any suggestions...let me know!!

How is the planning going ladies?

Welcome back! We are getting married in the Bahamas as well and we are just "winging it" and going down the week of our wedding. Hopefully everything works out.

I was hoping you could tell me who you picked for your florist and decor. We are still trying to work that out? If you don't mind, I could also use your leads for the hair and make up as my fiance is still trying to figure out what she is going to do about that.

It's nice to know we can pick things up downtown for the bags too. We want to do favors but only if we can get some sort of favor that reminds people of the Bahamas. Otherwise they get nothing :)

If your looking for a DJ, we are using Jose Ageeb, if you want his info let me know. He was reccomended to us so I gave him a call and I booked him that night. He really seems to have his act together. I also found this review on-line before I called him:

DJ: Jose Ageeb (Love him! Jose was key. Great personality, reliable, fun, and extremely helpful. He also helped me find a saxaphonist for the cocktail hour and set it all up for me. We became good friends which I'm sure a lot of people can't say about their DJ's. Rating: A+)

Give him a call. Very nice guy. A bit more pricey than others but he pretty much said he would run the whole reception and I have nothing to worry about.

P.S. Everyone always say "ladies" - there are some men on here doing the planning :)

Oh...so sorry..I DO remember that you are indeed a boy :) You must be a gem too to do so much planning!!!

Anyway, please send me the info on the DJ!! I need one bad as well as someone to play music at the ceremony.

Are you still looking for transportation? If so...I may have a lead for you. My driver back to the airport has a fleet of cars and business and said that for $10 per person R/T, he could take my guests from the Atlantis to the Poop-Deck Sunset....this is CHEAP as I was quoted between $21-24 from every other person. It is for this reason that I decided to do a welcome dinner that did not require transportation. I can't vouch for the guy, but while I was in the car he did confirm a pick-up from the Cove at the Atlantis to the Poop-Deck Sunset for the same price and got many calls. Let me know.

As for hair...just an FYI...I am black and am looking for someone that does black hair...don't know if this would suit your FI's needs wink.gif I am waiting for someone to send me some leads from the Bahamas. There was mention of a salon/spa that will do hair at the salon or where you are at in one of the Atlantis threads. As for make-up...waiting for the info but my Nassau friend is hooking me up with a make-up artist that works at MAC in downtown Nassau. I will let you know when I get the info.

Oh...I am using Floral Arts for my decor....I even went to visit them. The reviews on here have been mixed, but I got quotes from both Floral Arts and Wildflowers and believe it or not...they were much more reasonable.

As for the items for the bags...make sure to haggle...I got each of them for $1.00 a piece since I was buying in bulk.

Karen..thanks!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
