Does Dreams PV really charge a fee for outside vendors???

Recommended Posts

A few months back, I had received some information from WC-Rebecca about video, photo, DJ etc. She stated that these are the vendors that are contracted through the hotel but if I wanted I could hire outside vendors, no problem. She didn't mention anything else.

I recently contacted Rebecca about the details of purchasing the day passes for outside vendors and she attached a file that stated that there is a day pass charge, $500 deposit for property damage, and a $500 surcharge for hiring an outside vendor. I totally agree with paying day pass & $500 deposit BUT a $500 surcharge! I am just a little pissy that she didn't mention anything about a surcharge!

For any ladies that has been married @ Dreams PV, please give me some info on how they went about outside vendors. I am attaching the document she sent me. Please let me know if this is normal procedure or something outrageous!

AHHH! I am really stressed out. I just called Rebecca to clarify this issue (I couldn't wait for her email response) & she stated that yes it is new for 2010, so brides beware! She is going to contact me back to see if they will not charge me due to the fact that I set up my contract for my 2010 wedding in 2009. If you happen to be getting married at Dreams this year, please contact the WC about this issue, so there are no suprises!

I am just one of them people that likes to fully understand the money being charged, & when someone tells you about fees for $500, it's a little stressful. I should mention each additional 50 guests, the price rises by $500. I even told her I might consider having my ceremony, reception someplace else considering she never disclosed this new info to me nor contacted me about the new charges. Hopefully I am not going overboard!!!!! I am so grateful for this website. I attached the document she sent me.

I'm afraid it's true. And Dreams PV was one of the very last "hold-outs" - meaning, it was, to my knowledge, the only HOTEL which allowed us to come-in free of charge. ALL the other hotels I know of (Marriott, Flamingos, etc.) make extra charges on top of the actual costs - and, actually, when you do the math, I do believe they are still cheaper than most of the hotels out there. We (us coordinators/florists) were expecting Dreams PV to come out with this policy any day and I'm actually surprised it took them as long as they did. sad.gifsad.gif

It's so funny that you mentioned this because I just got the same attachment from Rebeca last night and my FI almost flipped out! We are expecting to have between 80 to 110 so our fees are going to go through the roof. We are talking between $1,000 to $1,500!!!!! Looks like we'll be using their DJ and Photographer.

If you booked in 2009 Veronica did you get Rebeca to promise the 2009 rates and rules? Because I asked her back in the summer if I would need to pay a fee for my photog to come on site and she said no in an email (which I keep a copy of) and she also said I would get the 2009 rates bc I booked so early in 2009 for a 2010 wedding. Did she do anything like this for you?? Maybe that is how you could get out of paying the $500.

And like Mischka said, unfortunately it is their way of trying to keep the business in house!

I just read the document for providers and am mad enough to spit nails. I have been VERY supportive of that hotel, to the point where I didn't even mention on here the horrible screw-up they did on one of our weddings last october - I imagine other coordindators are mad as well - be interesting to see the fall-out from this.....

All I can say is she better not try to charge me an extra $500 to bring my photog on site when she said last year there would be no charge bc honestly $500 to let him walk around is STUPID. I mean what could she really do if I just bought him a day pass and he was part of the "wedding party" but just liked to take photos?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
