ILA Brides, what do you have planned so far for your big day?

Hey Ladies!

Was anyone able to get a copy of the wedding script from Yahimara? The one I found online was very very legal sounding. I'm curious to know if I give the judge a script, if he'll read it (I'm just curious about the translation).

Here is the wording I could find online:

I, the Notary, attest the previous manifestations of the contracting parties and, to the effects of the formalization of the marriage that both have been presented, I proceed to read the Cuban Family Code, Articles 24 to 28.

MARITAL CODE

SECTION ONE: ABOUT MARITAL RIGHTS AND DUTIES

ARTICLE 24: The marriage is constituted based on equal marital rights and duties.

ARTICLE 25: Husband and wife should live together, and maintain the corresponding loyalty, consideration, respect and help for each other.

ARTICLE 26: Husband and wife are bound to take care of the family which they have created and to cooperate with each other in the education, formation and guidance of the children. Likewise, each must participate and cooperate in the maintenance and development of the home.

ARTICLE 27: Husband and wife are bound to contribute to the satisfaction of the needs of the family they have created within the family. If only one person contributes to this support by working at home, and taking care of the children, the other must contribute to the expressed subsistence without relinquishing his or her duty to cooperate to such work and care.

ARTICLE 28: Husband and wife are entitled to carry their professions or skills, and their duties to reciprocally offer cooperation and help for this purpose as well as to start studies or enhance their knowledge; in any case, they will have to organize their home life in such a way that these activities should be coordinated with the fulfillment of the obligations imposed by this code.

Now I will question both parties if they persist in their resolution of getting married.

Wow! Doesn't that just bring a tear to your eye, that has got to be the most romantic thing you've ever heard! (Note Sarcasm)

Has anyone asked Yahimara how she would feel about providing a script of wedding vows to say to make the ceremony a little less "legal"and like you're reading about traffic tickets and a little more romantic?

Wow, that is awful lisa lol I had emailed Yahimara ages ago to find out if we could use our own vows and she said it's not a problem. Not sure if this will still have to be read at some point....I hope not, it sounds like a contract!

16 days till we leave!!

Don't be alarmed. This has been something we have all been experiencing the last while with Yahimara. It seems to take a week or two before getting any sort of reply back from her. Remember to keep all of your emails between the two of you as well and to bring them to the resort with you, in case they try to change things upon arrival after you have them planned with Yahimara.

Thanks Rhea,

She fianally responded. Hopefully she doesn't take as long with my next email/question. Otherwise, a 5 minute conversation can last months.

The judge/officiant has to say the legal wording to make the wedding ceremony legal and then Yahimara said that after the legel wording is complete, you can go ahead and say your own vows, do the sand ceremony, etc.

Very legal sounding but at least you can add your own wording after!

Hey Tilly, we are doing a seating plan for our guests - we have 80 coming so Yahimara recommended having one. She said to go with 6-8 people at each table, but I've been thinking about having 4 big tables of 20 people instead - I think it will be a nice way for our guests to get to know each and since it is tables of 4 being pushed together, I don't see why it would be a problem. Still waiting to hear back from Yahimara though!

And yes, we are ridiculously excited! I can finally say 'we're leaving next week'! I had better start packing!

That's a great idea Siobhan to push the tables together. Wow 80 people! You are going to have such an amazing week!! I am getting super excited for you too! I know what you mean about saying you can leave next week...my first thought this morning was 'yes! I only have five more Monday's of work until we leave'. Still have a tonne of stuff to do though, so trying hard to not freak out. Are you guys staying for two weeks?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
