barefoot - will I trip on my dress?

I'm considering going barefoot during the beach ceremony. However, I wanted to get normal heels for the reception. They wouldn't be too tall, but maybe 2-3 inches. If I have my dress altered to work with those shoes, would I have a hard time walking in the sand barefoot? I don't want to trip. How should I do this? My mom thinks I shoud get very short heels or flip flops for the reception. That is always a possibility but I'm not sure if it is my first choice. What is everyone else doing? Of if there are any past brides reading this, what did you do??

 

My dress came in but am undecided on the shoes, so haven't made an appt for my first fitting.

Have you fallen in love with a specific pair? Or are you just basically wanting heels in general?

I'm planning on wearing white flip flops. Last year when I was in the Dominican, the sand would get so hot I could barely walk on it! I haven't found a pair I like yet tho. Hehe. So I guess we'll see.

I went barefoot for my beach ceremony, I had my dress altered with no shoes on, and found some very low, almost no heal shoes to wear for before and after the wedding.

My dress was altered for my flip-flops and never once I tripped on it walking on sand or hard surface. I had a pair of 2 inch heels and only part of the front would show but I didn't end up changing shoes.

I was wondering about the hot sand too. Do you think it is really hot at 6pm? I just feel like it so awkward to walk in flip flops on sand. While I don't usually care, I will this time, since everyone will be looking at me...ha!

I looked at your photos and they are beautiful! Do you have a photo of your shoes? I was just curious what they looked like.
