Non-legal ceremony ????

Recommended Posts

We will already be legally married and having a civil ceremony on the beach. What is actually said? I have read everyone's ideas for vows and I still want to say some of those things. Do we still exchange rings and everyhting that goes with it??

We are getting legally married prior to our trip to Mexico as well - we plan to have the ceremony be exactly as it would if we were signing the marriage license. We will be exchanging rings and vows - as far as FI and I are concerned, we won't be "married" until that day. I suggest contacting the resort where you are getting married and getting the ceremony "script" that the minister will be using. From there, you can edit to make the ceremony as you would like it! There are lots of posts about legal vs symbolic ceremonies in the forum as well. Good luck :)

HI there,

We were married in Ontario Canada prior to going to Aruba for our beach cermeony. We had to be otherwise we would have had to be married in a church in Aruba (per country rules). We exchanged rings signed a certificate afterwards as did our MOH and BM (witness) it was just like normal and none of our guests knew we were married a month prior legally in our home town. You can do the smae vows you would do normally, we did.

Best of luck and let me know if you want a copy of our vows.

My FI and I are getting married before we go to Aruba, but we both agree that aren't married till our ceremony on the beach. We plan on having our ceremony just as if we weren't married yet so we will exchange rings and vows. From what I have read, a lot of people feel the same way.

We are getting "legally married" the week before our trip. Our ceremony in Mexico will include the exchanging of vows and rings. (Most likely everyone will think this is the legal ceremony) But one thing I have learned from reading through tons of threads.... is anything really goes.

My FI and I have both been divorced before, so that is making it much more expensive for us to get married in Cuba. I have thought about getting married here before, but my FI absolutely HATES the idea. He feels like why have a destination wedding at all if we are to be officially married here before? He doesn't want to lie to our families and friends, but if we tell them the truth we think they might not agree with it...

We are doing the legal part here and only the symbolic ceremony at the resort. I pieced together the vows from some of the brides here and made it our own. I didn't like the script that the resort would have used for us. We will be exchanging rings and doing the sand ceremony as well as they have something for us to sign so it looks official. I'm sure our guests won't know that any of it wasn't "legal".

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
