Double Wedding...sort of

Recommended Posts

hmmm....sounds like it could be fun and you might have a lot of family there which might be important for you, but also sounds like there could be some challenging situations.  If you guys can sort of talk out your details before making a commitment and honestly talking about what obstacles you may face it's better to get those things cleared up ahead of time.

I understand how that could be really convenient for the family, but I just see disaster written all over it.  What happens if you try to out-do each other?  What if some of her guests invite themselves to your wedding and reception?  What if you guys decide you don't like the same resort and start fighting over where to have the wedding?  I can just see a lot of things that could potentially go wrong.

Update for everyone...we still haven't started planning our wedding (yes, we are procrastinators!! and really busy at work wink.gif) but we changed our minds and decided we might just go elope the two of us, or with a set of friends/family to be the witnesses. Or who knows, we could end up doing something completely different!

Personaly i would also say no. As selfish as it sounds, i want my wedding to be about me and don't want to risk the comparisons between weddings. And trying to compromise with FH is a drama already - let alone trying to add another couple even if they are family into the mix

Oh my...  Personally I cannot even fathom agreeing to something like this.  I would not want to attend any wedding 2 days after mine, or have my wedding 2 days after my cousins.  I can just imagine the headache of trying to agree on everything with another bride.  Logically, I get it.  And yes, it makes a lot more sense for family members and other guests.  If you're open-minded enough and laid back enough then go for it, but if you're having ANY hesitation about this then I would stay far away from it!  If you do go for it, I would pick the resort and date, then let her know your plans and see if she still wants to do it.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
