Any 2011 Brides out there?

Recommended Posts

Yah dress shopping! I love it. Nicy your dress is lovely! I love Maggie dresses. I just knew i was going to get one of her designs! I love the barefoot sandal idea. We're getting married at the gazebo of our hotel so i'm going for a diamonte sandal. With a heel (fiance is 6' 3" so dont wanna look tiny next to him, lol) Then i may get some barefoot sandals for the beach photos! My dress is diamond white (which is more ivory than white) and my colour is pink. I am pink mad! My daughter Scarlett will wear the same colour as me and my maid of honor (big sis) will be in pink! We have 22 coming so far. I'm not doing save the dates as we know who is coming already. But will send out some nice invites to the reception back home!

Welcome rosieposie and i know how you feel, not booking it makes it feel less real but the time will fly and soon we'll all be booked up! Congrats brides. Love this forum!! x

futuremrs yak, your dress is stunning :-) wow no wonder you cant wait untill may to get yours through, and that "pool" colour is beautiful, you are going to look a million dollars!!!

mischaka, Cobgratulations on the date... fab... so excited for you. spend spend spend.... you'll have to let us know of how you progress with that :-)

yea like you i will probably make the barefoot, & with being off work this week, i might pop out and get a few bits and have a go... hmmmm... now theres an idea, it will feel like im doing something then!!! heha :-)

And a wedding "twin" brilliant cant wait to get a date to see if i have "twin" out there, lol,

here is a link for how to make barefoot if this helps

its very basic but gives you a general idea, and just uses what beads you want :-)

BFTutorial

(hope this works)

Less is more, its fab you have a wedding "twin" it will be fun!!! im glad there is a few of us on here for 2011, im hoping like you wth mischaka, everyone can keep me on pace 2 :-) but see the link above for making barefoot sandals... just an idea... but i do love these, they just add abit of something else.

hello RosiePosie,

Welcome, its great to see another 2011 bride joining us :-)

Maggie dresses are just so gorgeous even if you dont really like the a particular style of dress you just cant help but (secretly) like it when its a maggie even if you would never wear it, you still like it, if you know what i mean!!!! lol :-)

And yes we are waiting for May prices and we have been told its end of April/May before prices will be available and this seems like forever and a day away 2!!!!!

Michelle2011, like you I have a rather tall FI (6ft 5") and me being only 5ft 2" height is something he's always had over me... haha.... i was in 2 minds about the barefoot but then i just thought with having our ceremony on the actual beach, i really wanted to feel the sand between my toes (Cliché) so i figured height will just have to come second, but if like you we were getting married in the gazebo i would have definatly opted for a sandal of some sort :-)

Awwww, i love pink too but FI isnt a fan and my other fave colour is Aqua, so we opted for that. Your daughter and sis will look fab in pink :-) Do you have you BM dresses? or have them picked out?

How old is your daughter if you dont mind me asking, its great that she can be such a big part of your special day like that, i bet shes so excited and trying to have as much input as she can?

I am not having any BM as growing up my sis and i always said we would be each others BM (thankfully) i was my sisters a few years ago, but due to some circumstances at my sis end she wont be able to come to our wedding

((Secrety hoping this will change) which im absolutly deverstated about but weve talked and I understand)

But as my sister wont be there it just wont feel right having another BM, i have thought about this alot and its just one of them things.

Hopefully we will have more people coming and when we get things booked it will be easier to get numbers but at the mo there is Me, Stephen, my mum & dad, Stephens Sis & bro-in-law and their wee baby (who will be 18 months old when we wed)

we have a few other lined up but will confirm when we get booked then we will do the invites :-) probably not going to big a big line up, but thats ok.

Im off work this week and im driving FI mad as im just on here and online looking at weddingy (is that a word...lol) things and im loving it, but i just want to buy things and i really dont know where to start!!!

I'm also a 2011 bride. We've decided on May 28th in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic t th NH Real Arena hotel. We'r really excited about the hotel and trying to see if we can negotiate on prices since there seems to e a very large interest from our invited guests to attend. Are any of you all finding it easy to negotiate the prices on the wedding packages?

Hi and welcome Mrs. Williams :-)

Oooooo, Dom Rep, what a lovely place we have been twice and loved it both times, once in the north and once in the south, would loved to have married here but we wanted somewhere where neither us or our wedding party had been before... but definatly a great choice:-) Prices for our wedding package aren't out until end of April/May so I cant help you with this one but im sure someone will be along soon and will be able to answer your question :-)

Mischaka.... After leaving message on here this morning i decided to go out and buy some beads and elastic and attempt the barefoot sandals..... ive made one of a pair so far and its brilliant if i dont say so myself, when i have made the second i will take a pic n post so i can show em off... it might even be these one i wear at our wedding i think... not bad for a first attempt!!! lol

I haven't read this whole thread, so stop me if someone already covered the issue about the 2011 rates for hotels. Maybe it's just because we blocked off rooms for our guests but we were able to lock into rates at Playacar Palace and our wedding isn't until May 2011. Are you ladies just talking about the non-group rates that you're unable to get?

^ Hi Raychel, thanks for clarifying how you got your rates. I thought that ANY rates - whether through the hotel or a TA - would not be released until about 12 months before the date but sounds like I'm wrong. I think fiance and I will go speak with a travel agent soon just to get the ball rolling, then.

Nicyx, I love Aqua! What a good choice. Aqua, white, and sand are all great since they match the beach. :) I love pink and although my fiance probably won't care, I'm sure some of his friends would prefer I not send them something so girly. Lol! I'm still trying to decide for myself - I really like pink and grey or yellow and grey but I'm afraid it will wash me out. I'm going to put together some color inspiration boards soon to help me decide.

I thought that too! And when I initially called the resort I was just fishing for some information, and next thing I know I have contract in hand with rates and perks all written out! I was even hesitant because I figured they wouldn't keep a block on our rooms all the way from now until next May, but apparently I don't know much about blocking off rooms because once you give them your deposit, those babies are yours!

Hi girls,

I'm lucky as FI likes pink and it suits him to. My BM (sis) is not a big fan but i am letting her have a big say in the shade of pink and the style of dress. We haven't picked this yet as she wants so loose some weight before she trys anything on. Also i'm waiting to see if my best friend can make it and if so i'm going to ask her to be a BM too :o). Scarlett is 2.5yrs now so she'll be nearly 4 when we go. A lovely age! My son is going to be second best man to FI. Harrison will be 13yrs when we go, so a gorgeous young man! Your prob all wondering why we didnt marry sooner and to cut a long storey short. We got engaged 5yrs ago. Brought a house that needed alot of doing up so spent yr's and money on that and then as we were planning our wedding for 2008. Scarlett came along! So you can imagine i'm way past excited at the thought of it actually happening now! Yippiee!!!

Aqua is beautiful, with the sun, sand and sea it will look gorgeous! I like Aqua but anyone who knows me knows it's gotta be pink, lol. I'm very girlie!

Bikegirl, pink and grey sounds lush. FI hasn't decided what he's wearing yet he may just go with white shirt and a pink boutonnier (sorry if spellings wrong)

Arr Nicy it's a shame your sis wont be there - i will keep everything crossed that this changes for you! I know what it's like. My dad doesn't fly to well so there was a point in which we thought he wouldn't come. But he is and I'm so glad!

Can't wait to see your barefoot sandals. I might also have a go, hee hee!

How do you upload your pictures? I've uploaded a profile piccie but it's not showing up? Also how do you put your picture with your signature?

Chat later girlies! x

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
