Any 2011 Brides out there?

Recommended Posts

We went today and picked out bridesmaids dresses. I did tell my bridesmaids the one rule is no satin...but they were all in awe with the one dress that of course was satin. They were afraid to tell me, but I told them they have to buy it and wear it so if they all agree then we can do it. We have to have a deposit and the dresses ordered by June. So now I'm on a mission to find shoes to go with it! I'm still completely undecided on what the guys will wear. My gown in white with a pool blue corset backing. The girls dress is all pool blue and also has the corset back.

Yeah, I love the gazebo at Michelle's resort, and almost went with that resort too! If I could pay a deposit to secure the date and if their WCs were more responsive, I would love to get married at the Barcelo Palace. Since it is like a huge 5 resorts complexe (Palace, Beach..and other resorts), chance of getting sold out is very low, on the other hand, it is also harder to keep everyone staying at the same resort.

The problem is that I am very impatient and very used to getting my answers FAST. The chance of myself turning into "nasty bitchy" mode, scream at the WCs or getting a heart attack is very high with the Barcelo, therefore, I picked the Royal PDC.

Nicola,

Just keep a guest list on paper with columns like invites sent, will come or not or maybe, and booked, and do a final check 3-4 months before your wedding, you should be fine. No need to panic.

Is any of you brides having a gift registry on your website? Since its not a typical wedding since its destination. I really want too but my fiance doesn't because he feels bad for the people that is already paying for their tickets to fly down to FL. I don't know... what's everyone's thoughts ?

Linhy,
I am registered at 3 different places, and will update my site with the other 2 places. The reason is that we are going to have a party (not as formal as a reception) at Montreal after the wedding for people who can't goto Mexico, and for "not so close" friends and family.
The other thing is usually stores offer great discount for couples who registered with them, so u can buy items that you need at deep discount up to 1 yr after your wedding date (i.e. I put a set of Cuisinart pots on my registery, it cost $699 at regular price, but if I buy it for myself, the store will charge me $269).

Michelle,

Yeah great reviews on the Barcelo Palace. The gazebo is nice, the surf-turf menu seems to be yummy as well. I am sure you will have a blast there! Did you sort out the Saturday wedding issue with the WC?

Air Transat is offering great wedding packages at Barcelo, except, this is the first year, and the hotel doesn't coordinate well with Air Transat (not yet).

No we haven't secured the date yet. We have it on hold for 28th May but we can't confirm the date until she has seen the confirmation from the TA that we are booked up to go. So as soon as we book i will email and get the TA to email and then hopefully they will confirm our date! So excited it's so close to booking now!

I'm glad you found the review. They are so helpful to read! I'm going to expect a few problems and like Bonnie says BP is sooooo slow with reply's that will drive me mad but i'm still 100% sure we have choosen the right resort!

Bonnie i haven't heard back from the WC and i havent contacted her either. I thought i'd stop worrying about it and just see what happens when we finally book. I will then confirm with them, the day, date etc and get it in writing!

Like that review says.... I'm going to print out all my emails and take them with me..... (good tip)!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
