Any 2011 Brides out there?

Recommended Posts

Hello 2011 brides,

I am also a 2011 bride! I thought i was the only super early planner but glad to see i have company. We have confirmed on feb. 19th 2011, at Azul Sensatori. We have our wedding time set for 5 pm and sent off our group contract for rooms. It took sometime to decide on the resort but my DWC/TA has been wonderful. I would definitely suggest using destinationweddings.com. They were on top of everything. Our TA set us up with a webinar with Azul so we were able to see rooms, ask questions and have a virtual tour. Thats what sold my fiance. He was constantly checking to make sure i was on top of everything after that webniar. I was truely thankful for her offering that because it got him very excited.

They provided a website that we added our story to and the TA will constantly update with travel info. Our guest book through the website or call the TA so hopefully it continues to go smooth. If anyone wants to check it out feel free and tell me what you think. Go to.....

Can anyone tell me how i attach pictures on here? Thanks x

I agree that it is fustrating. Everyone keeps asking me when I'm getting married and what's my date and stuff. I'm like I dunno!!!! And then people look at me like ohhh she will prob change her mind and not have a destination wedding or she's not serious about the wedding. Grr!! It does not feel real at all. I feel like once it's booked then I can start really feeling like a bride sad.gif

^ Yes, I am. I didn't even know what save the dates were until I started the wedding planning process. I've only been to 2 weddings and they were both fiance's relatives, so he always took care of the arrangements for us.

My time line is like this....April/May - find a TA and look into prices for the top 5-6 resorts I've picked. May/June - send out STDs.

The only thing I'm uncertain about is whether I will have invitations or just STDs and then everything else via e-mail/wedding website. Unlike an at-home wedding, you have to give people pretty much all the details ASAP so they have time to save, plan, and book. So actual invitations much closer to the date seem a little pointless.

Hello all! I'm planning on July 2, 2011. I have two possible locations and I'm having a really hard time deciding--Azul Beach Hotel in Riviera Maya or Dreams Punta Cana, DR. I'm really nervous about either option because of the cost of the rooms for the guests. I'm afraid some of my fiance's family (with 2 adults and 3 kids) will have a difficult time coming with the cost being $450 per person per night. Any luck with group costs through WC vs. through TA? booking online? I heard they make you pay if you "book a block of roomshuh.gif"

My wedding is next January. I sent my STDs last month. I figure everyone knows about the wedding, but just to make it official so they have time to save money for the trip. I sent message in the bottle STDs which kind of said to save the date and refered them to my wedding website, i will not be doing seperate invites.

Also, we are having AHR so I will have to do invites for that too, so I didnt want to send 3 different invitations!

I just cant figure it out?!!!! :-(

Were not having many coming over to Mexico with us, maybe 7-10 maximum includng us but secretly im hoping that will change. As soon as we can get the resort booked im just going to send invitations out and skip the save the dates as people know we are looking at May 2011 and have said they wont book hols etc until we know our dates :-)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
