Yeah, i think thats a great idea :-) The more people you tell earlier the better :-) And the more cheaply done ie ONLINE, the better, more to spend on weddingy stuff xoxoxo

depends when your TA says the deposit has to be in and when ppl have to be booked by. my weddings is in JAN and they said that my last day for booking was july 15 so i put my invites out in end of may... talk to your TA see what they say - if like mine i would do about 8 mnths before! so around endof september!

I agree with nmurch...it really depends on your travel details. Our wedding is in January, but the package deal we got expired August 31. So we sent out invites in mid June. But we have plenty of guests coming from other cities, where our group rate does not apply. So they still got the invites in June, but we have set our RSVP to November (it's also the date that full payment for the group rate price is due, and close to when we have to finalize numbers with the resort.

Have you done STD's? I didnt do them so when i booked our wedding in May this year for May next year i sent my invites out then as i wanted to give plenty of notice x

If you have done STD then i expect your guestd have started to save the pennies if they are coming... so you could send out at anytime now really, I wouldnt leave it too late though as your resort may get booked up and all your guests may find it hard to get a room????

Nan -- it depends a lot on the situation, but the earlier the better so people have time to plan for the trip.  In some cases though (like mine), the early booking deadline may be too soon to send out proper invitations.  What we did in that situation is send out STDs and booking information in an email and let people know that invitations would be coming later.  So our guests will be getting their invitations about 5 months in advance.  Seems a bit like a formality at that point, but we're using the opportunity to send them additional information about the wedding, resort and trip that might be useful to them :)

Sounds perfect!  You're getting the word out to people right away and doing real invitations well in advance too.  I think this is ideal (and I too think paper invitations are the way to go ultimately).

I agree with the others that it really depends on your situation: when the bookings are due, if you sent out save the dates etc.

Our wedding is at the end of May as well and we sent out Save the Dates about 11 months out. We're going to be sending out our actual invitations about the end of September/beginning of October (depending how fast they're done).  Still gives people a lot of time that way.

I personally get torn between giving people a lot of notice and being told that "etiquette would frown" on sending invitations out too early.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
