Hi Lisadias, yes I looked at their website and it is beautiful!!! But prices are a little too steep, I can't ask my guests to pay that much when they are already paying for expensive plane tickets from Europe :(

So, I just replied to your post and when I submitted it, it said something about ..."since you're new here, your post is being held...." What does that mean?

Anyway, just said that I have checked their website and it is a beautiful resort, but a little too expensive for my guests (since most of them are traveling from Europe and already have to spend a lot on the plane ticket)

I feel a lot better about Gran Porto after your reply, I can be picky when it comes to traveling and hotels so nice to hear from someone who also have a lot of travel experience. How is the beach at Gran Porto? Can guests use both resort facilities?

Hahaha...well well well..kids..my mom said when it is mine, it will be different.  You can see the album on my facebook and photobucket for pics of Royal and Gran Porto.  The beach of the Gran Porto is a public beach..just like the Royal one.  It is not the nicest one, if you want nice beach, Cozumel has better ones.  But both hotels are located at 2 blocks away from the 5th Avenue, I walked around after dinner every night.  There are a Mega (Mexican version of Target) and a Walmart near by, so it is very easy to get supplies for wedding favors or OOT bags stuffs.  The Royal guests can use the Gran Porto's facilities, but there is no need, because the Royal is much nicer than the Gran Porto, more restos, more choices.  The 2 restos (a mexican and an italian restos) at the Gran Porto are nice too, but can't compare to the Royal's restos.  The Gran Porto's guests have to buy a day pass to access the Royal, but sometimes, they offer very good deal for Gran Porto's guests to upgrade to the Royal.  I got offered at $30 per night/per room.  The reception menu is the same for both resorts as well.  You can PM me, I can send you the menus.

Seriously, there are so many nice resorts in Mexico, you will have a hard time to choose the right one!

Gran Porto Pros:

Good location

Kids friendly

Good food

Decent beach

Gran Porto Cons:

You can hear kids everywhere (if u go during summer /holidays)

Hotel is a bit old, so...not so modern decor

I'm still trying to choose a resort. We want to give people the option to bring their kids and find an affordable option since most of our guests will be traveling from Europe and are spending a lot on their tickets already. I love, love, love the Azul Beach & Sensatori but it was a little too expensive for our guests so now I'm looking at Gran Porto Real. If you don't mind me asking, what prices do you feel is a good price for a room/night? I'm starting to think that maybe I'm being unrealistic huh.gif

We have booked at the Azul Sensatori and found the prices quite reasonable, however we are coming down from Canada. I would see what your TA can do. When we started we were being quoted $2300, and now we have the price set at $1515 (early bird price). So you might be surprised if you try pushing a little.

Is that price including the flight? If so it is amazing!! We were quoted about $1500-something for 7 nights at Azul Sensatori (I think that was early bird but on the website it says it ends July 31) and that is still a little high since a plane ticket from Sweden is about $1000 pp.

So it seems to me, from what I'm seeing on this forum, is that you lucky Canadian brides get better prices than us US brides!! No fair! That's with flight included right Murmel? If so...I don't get it, because Canada is further away from Mexico, and  you have to fly farther, but prices are CHEAPER!

I just need to move up to Vancouver. I love it up there anyway, and my parents live right over the border in Blaine, WA.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
