I had a look at Ivan's website today and see what you mean, he is fantastic.... :-) I hope they re-think this rule very soon......

I agree, Ivan takes some amazing photos, and he has been nothing short of wonderful to try to work with. Unfortunately, it isn't to be for me...but I hope other brides are able to use him! His prices (and everything included) are really great, and he takes fantastic photos!

Yep, super lame-o. Their reasoning is that they have negotiated these contracts with the Mexican photographers they use, and that to allow other Mexican photographers in the resort would be a breach of that contract.

I've made arrangements for another photographer they work with, so I've got it all sorted out, and deposit paid :)

Ok, back to wedding stuff wink.gif I've been trying to track down those 'Fever London' dresses that Michelle posted (but in blue) and there is actually a store in Canada that is about to get a shipment of 3, I will officially be stalking them on a weekly basis wink.gif Just *slightly* obsessed with them.

Rant over........ and back to happy wedding stuff :-)

Yes, I agree with you ladies & Mexbride on this , I too have been the DR twice and Cuba once and would definatly go back to both... I never once feared for mine or FI's safety, These things that happen are shocking and terrible but things happen in these country's and are probably no worse as a lot of places in the UK or lots of other places in the world no doubt... A friend of mine from school her sister was murdered in her own home round the corner from my mums house and another friend of mine, her brother was murdered in Glasgow in Jan.... yes these are god awful things to happen and wouldnt wish it on anyone but this wouldnt stop me from going to my mums or into Glasgow... bad things happen all over the world (just watch the news) daily but i wouldnt let the bad things take over if i really wanted to go somewhere as i bet the good things to say always out weigh the bad things and its just a shame the good storys dont get round quite as much.....

as josie says... Rant over... Weddingy stuff now :-) x

Opinion question: I'm ordering these Koozies for our OOT bags to keep cans cold. The front is going to bear our wedding logo. The back was going to read, "To Have & To Hold, To Keep Your Beer Cold!". I thought it was cute. Do you think using 'Beer' instead of 'Drink' is offensive to our non-drinkers. I didn't but it was a comment that was just put to me so now I'm like ugghhh. What do you guys think?

I don't know your non-drinkers, but for the non-drinkers attending my wedding, I know that none of them would be offended by that. If anything they may find it amusing to put a soda into the koozie that says beer on it! However, if they are the type who are very opposed to alcohol (like some of our non-drinking family members who aren't attending!), then it probably is good idea to go with "drink" instead of "beer"

It is a very cool idea! and people can re-use the koozies!
Back to the wedding ideas, and yes I don't work for DR tourist board and my job is to watch the world's geo-politics and economic developments. Of course for Canucks, it is much safer in Canada than in the US ( we don't have our version of AMERICA's MOST WANTED yet), for Americans..it is much safer in US than in these south countries, it is all relative, and if you don't see, then everything is fine.
Ok back to my wedding (I know you all must be wondering who is this poor guy who ends up with a psycho pessimistic girl like myself..oh well..ironically, he is an eternally positive guy, super chill and not many worries)

OK really back to wedding stuffs...are u girl having a zip up back dress or lace up dress? I am very debating between the two.
Zip up is clean and can have nice buttons at the back, but Lace up is fail-proof...I can gain weight from 85 lbs to 95 lbs and still able to fit....but I am really not sure.

Barbie,
I know..as Canucks we can goto both places DR and Cuba! They are almost the same, one with Americans, and Europeans...the other one..with only european. Now it is even cheaper to goto DR for us than in Cuba, so a lot of people are going..to "stimulate" the DR's economy.

I think Beer is fine! Your on holiday in Mexico so i'm sure ppl will go with the flow and not worry about it to much! I think it's a great idea and i like the wording your using. If it were me i would put beer instead of drink.

Bonnie my dress is lace up but that wasn't planned it just happened to have lace up on the dress i liked x

We have had our first price come in for our hotel which is way over our budget now FI's wages have been cut so we have to sit and wait for a better deal :o(

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
