Congrats to those who have gotten married so far and congrats to all you fellow 2011 brides. My fiance and I have chosen the Playacar Palace and our date is set for 11/11/11. I have already become obsessive on whether or not we have chosen the right hotel and if it will be affordable for our guests. I keep hearing about airfare hikes and come November, I am not sure how thats all gonna look. Anyways to all you lovely ladies as well as others who post, thank you so much for your input. It has been so helpful!!! :)

LOL i go shopping on the 11th and i am so excited but also nervous. I hope i dont have a hard time finding the right dress but i wont stress about it and I havent closed my mind off to any styles so hopefully that will help woot.gif

My first shopping day I did nothing but try on dresses of differest shapes/styles so I could determine what I liked.  I didn't try and find "the one" I just tried to narrow it down.  I thought mermaid would be best for me, but I had to be sure.  What you like and what looks best on your body aren't necessarily the same thing.  But once you see what looks best, you will start to love it.  I then went to 2 more stores in search of the perfect dress and was able to find it - but I think I would have been overwhlemed if I had started looking for the perfect one without having been able to narrow down to the shape.  Best of luck with the whole process, it can be a lot of fun if you don't put too much pressure on yourself.

And of course the advice every bride to be should get is don't try on a dress if it is out of your price range - you are just asking for heart break!!

Is anyone else dealing with a million questions from guests about the safety of going to Mexico?? Arghhh it's definitely reaching a frustrating point! I've had people ask me if the resort is surrounded by a wall and how many security guards are there, I've had people tell us they aren't coming because they're afraid of being kidnapped, and I've even had people ask me about their safety traveling from the airport to the resort! You'd think I chose to have my wedding in Afghanistan or something! Anyone else dealing with this and frustrted?

I have had one person say those kind of things to me and my response is:  "Would you not go to Las Vegas?  Because Las Vegas is closer to the border and the violence than Cancun is..."  The person then looked confused and stopped talking....

Hey There. I am getting married at the Royal Playa Del Carmen on April 1st (I think this is about an hour from Cancun).  The resort is completely booked and so is the family friendly Gran Porto next store. Of course some of my guests dragged their feet and now they are looking for places to stay (Ugh!).  I said to my soon to be husband last night, "I know the media said that Mexico is dangerous right now, filled with drugs and violence..Yeah apparently the Royal and the Gran Porto didn't get that memo.  And it's not like either resort is cheap."

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
