Any 2011 Brides out there?

Wow you ladies are definitely on it. I haven't really done anything as yet. I have everything in my head that I want to do and we have been discussing several different options as to all inclusive venues but nothing is concrete as yet. I have been spending the day reading a lot of the different forums. I have learned about TAs, all inclusive resorts, and planning timelines for DWs. It is a great resource. I have found my dress though. I haven't purchased it as yet but I have tried it on and it looks great. I am just waiting to see if there is anything else that I really like, cause this dress was one of the first that I looked at and I told myself, this is it. If I do purchase it, I plan on doing so from this neat website I found. It is cheaper than the store for sure.

Also, I see everyone has been posting about their rings. They are all gorgeous. I don't wear jewelry and my FI and I don't plan to exchange rings, since we will not be wearing wedding rings. Instead, we will be doing a cord ceremony baed on Ecclesiates 4:12. This was done by Rev. T.D. Jakes on that movie, "Not Easily Broken." I found the cords on this neat website.

Think thats my next search now..... Our wedding rings :-)

AishaB... Like you I have tried my dress on but it was months ago and i talked myself out of it as it was out of my budget £900 (which i know isnt expensive for a wedding dress but i didnt budget for his much) BUT a few weeks ago i stummbled across it online for €138 and i figured i will take the risk for that price, Works out at about £125 so well within my budget i was looking around £300/£400, So im going to go and try it on one more time just to make sure (BUT I REALLY LOVE IT so its an excuse just to try it on again really) :-)

Awww, and what a lovely thing your doing instead of rings... Ive never seen this before.

ronsoliman.... Im not sure what the date in May is yet as we cant get dates or book anything until May this year but we are hopefully looking for around the 6th? Watch this space.... What about you? :-)

Thanks Nicola. We are doing something untraditional and a lot of people have had negative things to say but where is it written that rings make a marriage better? Yes they are beautiful and it is great to have one, but we don't have to have one. None of my sisters do and they have been happily married from 5 years to 24 years. So to the nay sayers I say, you have your beliefs and I have mine. And to people like you, I say thank you for your support and your open mindedness to something a bit different.

Thanks Nicola x. Your rings are very beautiful. I like them they are different. And congrats on the great find with your dress. Mine was also a find because that site is for pre owned dresses and the one I fell in love with is brand new, never worn and no alterations. So excited.

@AishaB...you have PLENTY of time to get things done, and you should be pretty impressed with yourself for having started already! That dress is absolutely stunning. I am all about pre-owned dresses. If you think about it, spending thousands on a dress you're going to wear ONCE just seems a bit crazy to me! My dress was about $850, and I am blessed enough to have a very generous family (my mom purchased it for me)...there's no way I would have gone over $1,000, but that's because I'm frugal to the core. Does anyone else watch "Say Yes to the Dress"? I do, and I'm amazed at those ladies that have a budget of like $10k and over...that's a new car! For a dress!

AishaB, I also love your idea of the cord ceremony. It seems very meaningful and I love the concept. My fiance won't be able to wear a ring, either...he's a commercial electrician, and it's dangerous for him to wear any metal on his body, and it can get caught on ladders/tools/etc. So we'll get him a very simple ring, but he'll only be able to wear it after work or on weekends.

I'm hoping to send out my invites next week! Yes, I know it's wicked early, and I had originally planned on sending STD's out first, but honestly I pretty much know who will be coming so I think I'll save some money by just sending out the invites. Our resort is small (under 100 rooms) so I want to give enough notice so my guests can book ASAP and lock in a room before they sell out. I'm making them myself, which has been SO much fun.

@ cjb0arder13: Thanks I love that dress and I agree with you about not spending too much on the dress. My sister wore a $5K dress at her wedding. It was gorgeous and if it weren't for the fact that pictures would show we wore the same dress, I would totally be wearing it for my wedding day. But I wanted something simpler, lighter and that would really keep me true to who I am. All the way through I want simple elegance.

Nicola (LOVE your name by the way!): I will definitely post pics as soon as they're done! I have to get the actual wording on the invites printed out, and then it's just a matter of putting them together. I hope to have that done sometime this week...as soon as they're put together I'll def post pictures! I think the total cost comes out to somewhere around $2/invite, which is a bit more than I was planning on spending, but I'm only sending 50 invites out so it wasn't TOO expensive.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
